We're Home!

Image
After two and a half days in the hospital we were more than ready to get home Sunday afternoon.  Yaya came up to get some pictures of Kathleen in her going home outfit and of us walking to the car.  And of course to get some more cuddles in before we were home.    Pops, Yaya, Cap'n and of course big sister were all there waiting.  Lilli had really been missing us so she couldn't have been happier when we pulled up.    The first night went really well.  She slept all night except to wake up for one feeding.  Last night we weren't so lucky. I'm sure we will get it figured out but I am really thankful for Matt and Yaya this week.  I am still pretty sore from the C-section so Matt has taken care of Lilli and the house and not let me do anything. Yaya has come by every day too to play with Lilli and cook dinner.  She even watched both of them today while I napped and Matt ran up to the deer camp to check crawfish traps.  I think he was going a little

More from Katie Jane's Birthday

We went in to the hospital at 5:00 am on Friday to get ready for the C-section that was scheduled for 7:30.  Yaya, Pops and GranJan were all there before they wheeled me back to the surgery room and by the time we came out Cap'n, Chad, and Josh had all gotten there as well.  I really liked that this hospital let me get some time with her even while I was still in surgery.  Matt took her to a room right next to us and watched her be weighed and measured and then brought her to me.  That didn't get to happen with Lilli.  Everyone else saw her before I did so it was even more special that I got this time before we got back to the room. Everyone got to get a peek at her once we were back in before I tried to nurse.  I thought it was so cool that they were all in the room waiting for us when we got done.  Around 11:00 Nana and Lizard got there with Lilli and it was so special to see her see her sister for the first time.  Matt and I had been nervous about how she wa

Kathleen Jane is here!!

Image
Kathleen Jane arrived at 7:55 am yesterday morning. She weighed 8 lb. 5 oz and was 20.25 inches. Matt and I couldn't be happier! we are completely in love already. I was worried about how Lilli would handle not being an only child anymore but she fell in love just as quickly as we did. She has been spending time with Pops, Nana, GranJan, and Lizard at our house while we're in the hospital. I know she is having a blast but I know she is also ready for me, Matt and Katie to all be home tomorrow.

Gonna need a new name!

So I just realized that come Friday I am going to need a new title for my blog since it won't just be about Lilli's Life anymore. Should I just add Katie's name and make it Lilli and Katie's lives? I'm feeling like I can be a little more creative than that. Open to suggestions... Leave comments please.

Thanks Yaya and Cap'n!

Lilli stayed with Yaya and Cap'n last night and Matt and I got a much needed quiet night before our nights become anything but. ;) They have been gone for 6 weeks so she was excited to spend some time with them. I think she's a little nervous about the anticipation of the baby because, although I heard she had a blast, she made it clear she wanted to come back after "one night." These pics look like she and Yaya had a blast playing in the yard today. Matt and I didn't really do anything special last night but it was exactly what we needed. Plus I had most of the day today to make one last big grocery trip and get the last few things for the baby where they needed to be. Thanks Yaya and Cap'n!

Too funny not to share

Image
I stole this pic from Yaya's blog today. She took it at Hailey's baby shower on Saturday and I thought it was too funny not to share. As you know, baby Case is due in a little over 2 months so we both definitely have pregnant bellies to show off. It's been fun being pregnant at the same time as my sis-in-law and I'm glad it's an experience we got to share together. :)

Last "no work day" as a family of 3!

Image
Every morning that Lilli sees Matt she always asks "Daddy, is it a no work day?" 5 out of 7 days a week she gets the answer she's not looking for. But today, the answer was yes! Matt and I decided to spend the day doing something fun as a family because it is the last "no work day" before Katie comes. We started the day by going to the early church service followed by brunch at Another Broken Egg. Then we all came home for relaxing and long naps. When everyone was up and dressed again we went downtown to festival plaza for Holiday in Dixie. Lilli had a blast riding rides, playing games and eating fair food of course. I think it was especially fun because Daddy was the one riding the rides with her. That's normally my job but we didn't figure it was a good idea this pregnant. Tiffany, Cameron and Aubrey met us down there too so of course it's always more fun with another kid. It was the perfect was to spend our Sunday.

Getting Ready for Case!

Image
Hailey's baby shower was this morning and it was such a great party! One of her Mom's sweet friends hosted at her house but there were several hostesses that help get the meal together. The house was beautiful, brunch was delicious and weather was perfect. Hailey looked beautiful and I'm pretty sure she must have almost everything she needs because she got a ton of cute stuff! It was so nice to see all of her family but Lilli and I were especially excited to see Yaya, Rachel and Austin. Yaya and Cap'n have been on the boat for the last 6 weeks and we hadn't seen Rachel and Austin since his birthday almost 3 months ago! It was very sweet to see Austin and Lilli seeing Yaya for the first time after that long but I'm pretty sure she was the most excited. :)

It's Done!!

I mentioned a few months ago that Matt and I were working on the house to get it ready to put on the market. After looking, looking and looking we could not find a house to buy that we were really excited about. We love our house and the neighborhood. Schools are great and you can't beat being able to walk to the park. So, we decided instead of buying we would make some improvements to our current house. It didn't give us more square footage or a 4th bedroom but it did make us love it as much as we did when we first bought it. I learned that you can't be in a hurry while taking on this type of project. We had the house painted from top to bottom (inside, we did the outside last year) and new floors put in everywhere but the beds and baths. Matt also installed all new light fixtures. This was supposed to take a little over 2 weeks but as I type this I am sitting here without someone working for the first time in over 4. Just in time! Katie will be here no later than a week f

First trip to the dentist!

Image
Lilli had her first dentist appointment today. She has been a little nervous in the days leading up to it but we have been reading the Berenstein Bears Visit the Dentist to get her prepared. When she first sat down she had me hold her hand but about 2 minutes in to it she let go and said "I'm fine." She even let me go and get started on my cleaning and leave her alone. I could hear her talking and giggling. I was do impressed at what a big girl she was today! Good thing Katie comes next week because I officially don't have a baby anymore. :)

Dinner and a play date

Image
We had a very productive and fun weekend. All day Saturday was spent working in the house. Our paint and floors are 90% done so we got everything back up on the shelves and walls and Matt hung all new light fixtures. Saturday night we met some friends for dinner at The Oyster Bar. Lilli and I have been spending a lot of time with Aubrey and Tiffany but this time the Daddys joined us too. It was nice to get to know Cameron a little bit and get to do something all together. On Sunday Lilli's new friend from next door, Gregory, came over for a play date. They've always lived next door to us but he and Lilli have just recently started spending time together. I love that she has a friend so close and they play so well together. I have lots of memories of playing with the kids in my neighborhood growing up and I love that she will too.

Lilli and Matt's Garden!

Image
After seeing the garden at the deer camp, Lilli and Matt decided that they needed one at home too. So yesterday evening they worked together and got it planted. In a couple of months we will have tomatoes, bell peppers, squash, zucchini, strawberries, basil and cilantro growing in our yard! I am very excited to watch then do this together and to have the fresh produce. Such a good thing for Daddy and daughter to do together. I remember my Dad's garden in our first house in Baton Rouge when I wasn't much older than her. I'm sure these are memories she will have forever too.

Allie's 29th Birthday Weekend!

Image
We had a great weekend celebrating Allie's birthday. Allie, Dad, Jimmy, Theresa, and Luke all drove up to spend the weekend with me, Matt and Lilli at the deer camp. Everyone had a great time just hanging out, riding around, catching crawfish for dinner, shooting targets and skeet and of course eating WAY too much. I don't think Jimmy, Theresa and Luke had ever driven a four wheeler and had only shot once or twice so it was especially fun and new to them. I always love when my Baton Rouge family makes it up for a visit but I'm pretty sure Lilli loves it even more.
