Image
I love the timehop app. It's fun to see what you were doing on this day years ago.  But sometimes I see one that stops me in my tracks. Like today: 5 years ago? I remember this like yesterday. Lilli's first haircut. I didn't make a big deal out of it.  Her hair was getting in her eyes and she hated ponytails so we ran up to Wondercuts to have it trimmed. The hairdresser said most kids cry but she loved it! And then we walked next door for Baskin Robbins.  How did that one year old turn around and become a 6 year old going in to 1st grade? Time please slow down!

"Mama, I'm a ballerina!"

Katie had her first ever dance class today at The Theatre School of Dance. She's doing a 2 day camp to test it out before I commit to signing her up for classes this fall.  After only one class I'm feeling pretty confident that she's going to love it! She's been wanting to dance for a year now (in her three years of life that's forever!) and I finally gave in. My only reason for not wanting to is I didn't want to sign myself up for two days of after school stuff with kids. But there's a studio in the same shopping center as Lilli's gymnastics and they can be in class at the same time. Score! :)  I can't tell you how many times I heard "Thank you, Thank you Mama" as we put on her tights, leotard and shoes this afternoon. She was a very happy girl  when we arrived at the studio and she listened intently to everything the teachers said. There was tap And ballet My favorite part was when she caught my eye and gave me a big thumbs up. Of course

"Craig" Family Weekend

Image
We were supposed to spend 5 nights last week relaxing by Lake D'Arbonne and enjoying the pool at the state park.  But my surgery being scheduled less than 2 weeks before made us decide to cancel. So, Pops, Honey, Ryan and the kids all came up to the deer camp for the weekend so we could still have the cousins get together. (Allie and Jen had plans and Michaelyn and Rick are busy getting her house on the market after their surprise wedding in the Galapagos a few weeks ago)  We didn't too much. It was very hot but that didn't bother the kids. They were happy to be together playing in the pool, having a water balloon fight, riding 4 wheelers, and finding games to play in the kid room.  Pops, Honey and Daniel had some extra excitement when they went to Gilliam to the Shreveport Soaring Club for a ride in a glider.  http://www.shreveportsoaring.org/ Pops has been talking about this place for at least 10 years and I'm so glad he finally had people willing to go with him. Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day! We are definitely blessed to have some amazing Dads in our lives. Matt and I have wonderful Dads who are also the greatest grandfathers to our kids. But today I am most thankful for Matt who not only is the most caring husband I could ask for, but the best Daddy to our girls. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads, step-dads, grandads, uncles, and those that are "like a Dad" today. We couldn't do it without you.

Swimming and Story Time

Yaya took the girls last night to give me a chance to rest. This recovery is taking much longer than I expected but I'm doing pretty well. I don't feel too bad as long as I rest enough but I honestly have been doing way too much this week and I was paying for it. I definitely took advantage of them being gone. I took 2 naps and slept 9 hours that night. The girls are always happy to go stay with Yaya and Cap'n but the best part was the pool was fixed!  You can't really beat a day with your Yaya in her pool!  I met her this morning in time to pick up Lilli to go to Sonlit Summer at the church. It's a once a week thing all summer where they go do something fun and then tie to a Bible lesson. Today they went to Party Central. She couldn't remember the Bible lesson. ;) That's ok, I'm thankful for our children's directors making church a place they want to go. While she was there, Lauren called and offered to take Katie to story time at the library. I too

Wow, Thanks Everybody

I sure have been feeling the love the last 10 days since my surgery. From the flowers and care basket I got in the hospital the day of surgery, to friends and family still bringing us food just a couple of nights ago. Plus all of the calls and texts that mean so much to know y'all are thinking of me.  I mentioned in my last post that I recovered at the camp but I can't thank Yaya and Cap'n enough. We stayed there 4 nights and I really got a chance to rest. They didn't let me do anything (and anyone that knows me knows that was very hard for me! ;) but it's exactly what I needed. The kids were taken care of and entertained. And Yaya was constantly (I literally don't think she sat down) cooking, cleaning, washing clothes and getting me anything I needed. By Wednesday I was ready to get back to my own bed but I really missed her once I got here. Of course she sent enough food home to where we didn't need to cook at all for 2 days. (The kids didn't want to g

Resting and Recovering

I spent 2 days in the hospital after my partial hysterectomy. I have had pain most of my adult life and decided enough was enough and time to be done with it. I went in early Thursday morning and stayed for 2 nights. Yaya and Cap'n kept the girls while I was there.  And Matt stayed both nights with me. The nurses were impressed with his setup. He had his air mattress on top of their pullout couch with his sleeping bag. I think he's done this a few times. :) Pops stayed at our house and took care of the dogs but came to visit each day. Yaya brought the girls on Friday And I also got to enjoy flowers from them and also Chad, Rachel, Austin and Josey My room smelled like a flower shop. Cara stopped by with treats and magazines so that I wouldn't get bored too.  I got released yesterday morning and came to recover at the deer camp. I can't complain about anything. I am in some pain of course (it's only been 3 days) but Matt, Cap'n, Yaya and Pops aren't letting m
