Sesame Street Live!

Image
Lizard got Lilli tickets to Sesame Street Live and we went Wednesday morning. According to Lilli, "she got the good seats!" We've been before but were always up high but this time we were on the 4th row right by where the characters came in and out so we got to see them up close and shake a lot of their hands. She had a blast singing and dancing the whole time and even Katie enjoyed it.  She was cracking up at first but when they started coming up to us I think she got a little scared.  It was ok when she saw how much Lilli was loving it. She made me promise we'd go every year.  Thank you Lizard!

Matt's Home!

Image
Matt got back late Sunday night and we were so excited! Katie didn't get to see him until the next morning but I let Lilli wait up.  She actually had tears in her eyes and didn't speak or let go of his neck for a few minutes after he walked in.  I swear she's the sweetest little girl and she really missed her Daddy!  Here are a few pictures from his trip.   Leaving St. Thomas- the crossing to the Dominican Republic took about 36 hours.  Sunrise over Puerto Rico- about 1/2 way Entering the reef near Boca Chica Boca Chica beach The pictures make it obvious that they had a good time but we sure are glad he's home!

Finally Feeling Better

It has been a long week! Me and both girls came down with a stomach virus last weekend that's had us out all week.  Our original plan while was to be in Baton Rouge for 3-4 nights while Matt was gone but instead we have have barely left the house.  Katie got it Sunday and by Monday Lilli and I had it too. I called my Dad in the middle of the night Monday and he was here at 11:00 the next day to help. Whatever it was was highly contagious because poor Pops caught it too (but luckily only lasted 24 hours for him) and Matt was sick the first 3 days of his trip.  We're staying in the house this weekend just to be sure we don't get anyone else sick but we're going a little stir crazy.  We're thankful for a backyard to play in and hopefully will be back to normal Monday.

Safe travels Daddy!

Matt left today to join his dad in the Virgin Islands for a week on Blew Bayou.  He hasn't been in two years so to say he was excited would be an understatement.  They'll spend the week sailing from St. Thomas to the Dominican Republic.  I wasn't quite ready to leave Katie for a week so while I am very jealous, I'm happy to be home with my babies too.  :) Yesterday we spent the day playing and hanging out together before he left.  It was a perfect day for a picnic in the park and Katie's first time to play there.  It's been too cold since she's been mobile so it was nice to get out for the day.  She loved the sand, especially trying to eat it.

First Night Away

Image
Last night was my first night away from Katie.  Yaya came and spent the night at our house with the girls and Matt and I got a hotel in shreveport.  We went to Superior Grill and sat for about 3 hours just eating, drinking margaritas and even dancing to the band. It's been a  year and a half since the last time we got to go out like that and not have to go home to the kids. Much needed! And of course the girls did great.  I was so worried about Katie because she's such a Mama's girl but according to Lilli she "didn't even miss me." :) I'm so glad it was a good night for everyone. Thanks Yaya!

Lilli's First Sleepover (almost)

Image
Last week Luke Causey was in the hospital with RSV for several days.  We were happy to help Dillon and Cassie with Lily some so that the could be up there together.  On Friday we knew that she would be here until almost bedtime and back on Saturday morning anyway so we decided to attempt a sleepover.  The girls had a blast playing together and snuggled up in bed with a movie happily at bedtime.   Lilli fell asleep easily at around 8:00 but Lily was having a hard time falling asleep at a new place for the first time.  Around 9:30 she asked me to call Dillon and he came to get her.  Around 4:00 poor Lilli woke up with tear in her eyes so upset because Lily was "missing." If she hadn't been so serious I would have had to laugh but it only lasted a minute and she was back asleep.  Lilly was back around 8:00 the next morning and the fun resumed.  We were happy to have her and the girls had a lot of fun over those 3 days.  I'm also happy to report that after 5 nights in the

My Little Scientist

Yesterday, Lilli, Katie and I went to Sci-port for "Wonderful Wednesday." The once a month special is such a good deal because it is definitely worth the $6 for us to get in.  Lilli asks to go probably once a week so I try to take her the first of every month.  If all you did was go look at the exhibits I think it might get a little repetitive to her but the staff there is so great and they really engage the kids.  Last time she made a worm compost and did some crafts to learn about constellations.  This time she made "ooey, gooey gloop," pet and learned about animals and helped to feed the baby alligators.  I bet a lot of 4 year olds haven't heard the words carnivore, herbivore, omnivore, nocturnal and venomous, let alone know how to use them correctly, but she really amazed the lady that was teaching them. She said she was her "little friend" and wants her to come play again soon so she gave us 4 free passes. We'll be back next week because I fee

Weekend in Houston!

Image
All 4 of us drove down to Houston on Friday to spend the weekend with Shanon and Alex. On Friday Matt and Shanon went to his friends ranch to to go on a black buck hunt while the girls and I stayed with Alex at their house.  We had a quiet afternoon playing in the backyard and then went to dinner at an Italian restaurant that night.  I was so glad we had a chance to talk so that I could see her ideas for the wedding.  She booked the place for 7/11/15 in Montana at Glacier National Park. We couldn't be more excited!  While we were doing all that, Matt got his black buck! He was excited about that!  Saturday we took the girls to a park that also has a mini zoo and looked at the animals.  When the guys got back we spent the afternoon outside again before going out for sushi for dinner.  It was a lot of fun to get to catch up just the 4 of us.
