Christmas 2023

Image
This Christmas was very relaxing and low key, and that’s just the way we like it. We spent Christmas Eve afternoon in Vivian with the McCormick family and that was so nice. Cozy got to meet everybody too! Christmas Day was just the 4 of us at our house. Santa came We played with our new things and put some of the new decorations up upstairs. We watched movies and napped and ate a delicious meal! Matt and the girls left that night right before bed so they could wake up at the camp to deer hunt the next morning. No deer- but they did get to go out twice that day.  I didn’t go because I had to work that day, but it was a great end to the holiday!

Christmas Parties

This week has been full of Christmas festivities! We had a gymnastics party for Kathleen and my work dinner the same night. Wednesday morning I took Kathleen for part of her Christmas to get her second piercing. She’s been asking for months but it’s hard to make it happen. We went straight from that appointment to Alexandria to pick up Piper and Anna to come spend three nights. It’s crazy that I don’t have pictures from our few days together, but we really did nothing other than our parties. We stayed home, binging TV together, and it was so nice! Our visits with them are usually packed full, so it was nice to just hang out. Thursday was the teenage white elephant and pj party and that ended up being a lot of fun. We had 21 kids, so it definitely got chaotic, but it went well and everyone had a good time with no drama. This is a big deal for having that many middle schoolers! They did their white elephant gift exchange, and we had a few games with prizes. Poor Cozy says it’s hard to pa

Baton Rouge Christmas

We had 4 days at home before we turned around and went back to Baton Rouge. Friday night was Dad and Janet’s immediate family Christmas. They had all their kids and grandkids, except for Anna who had another Christmas party the same night.  Janet cooked a delicious meal and then we opened gifts from each other. It was a low key night and good to have a smaller group (only 15 of us, lol) to catch up after not seeing each other for awhile. We were all excited to hear about Evan’s proposal and his and Hannah’s wedding plans  Saturday morning was the 13tn annual great turkey giveaway for The Shepherds Market. We helped give away 500 turkeys complete will all the ingredients for a full Christmas dinner. Including a loaf of homemade bread made by my Dad and Fran We had a few hours of downtime to shower and nap before everyone showed up for our 2nd Christmas of the weekend. There were 22 of us this time and we all went to Jen’s for dinner, presents and games. It was a very fun evening, and Ms

Gymnastics 2023-24 season is officially underway! Kathleen had an in-house meet last month, but the meet in Hammond on Saturday was the first NGA meet of the season that counted towards her recorded scores. She ended up first on Beam and Floor, and 5th All Around with a total score of 36.475.  She didn’t place on bars or vault but we have all season to work on those. She has a rip on her hand that ripped open during warm-up that hindered her some on bars. And she knew going into it that she wasn’t quite ready for vault because they just changed the requirement two weeks ago. But she’ll get it! Me, Matt, Lilli, Pops, Honey and Piper were all there to cheer her on! My Dad has never missed a meet and I know she gets so excited to see her people  👆🏻This is Cheyenne, her favorite coach that has also been giving her private lessons It was a very quick trip! We got there about 4 o’clock on Saturday afternoon and stopped at Nana’s to see her. We went to dinner with Pops, Honey, Jen, Lizard,

Tis The Season

Like most, this is our family’s favorite time of year. For the McCormicks though it’s not just the Christmas season, but also hunting season. After Lillian and I left the weekend after Thanksgiving, Kathleen got to enjoy some time in the duck blind with her dad. Friday was December 1st so I don’t think anyone can argue that is OFFICIALLY Christmas. Coco came! And Matt got outside lights up for me too. That was a good surprise to come home to This weekend, Matt and I split up to get some one on one time with the girls. He and Kathleen went deer hunting (it’s a duck split) They got two nice does to add to the freezer! While they were there, Lillian and I took Reese and Brynn to the Pam Burnside and Friends toy drive for the Gingerbread House at Doxology. I took the girls to dinner, and then took them home. About the time we got done with that, Koy got dropped off after his sister‘s dance recital to watch a Christmas movie. On Saturday, Matt and I met in Plain Dealing and switched kids. H
