Happy Birthday Katie Jane!

Image
I can’t believe Katie is 8 today! Where did that time go? I feel like she was just this small She will always be my baby but she is turning in to such a sweet young lady. We had the best day today. She woke up to a table of surprises and got to wake Lillian up at 7:00 so she could open her presents.  They played this morning. We got Sonic for lunch and met Kelli for pedicures. She got surprise flowers delivered from Yaya. (She’s at the beach this week but will be back for the party this weekend.) Case and Lane came over to swim and play.  And Daddy made burgers for dinner and we had my homemade strawberry cake for dessert (it doesn’t look very pretty but it tasted good!)  It was a wonderful day celebrating our girl. Happy Birthday KatieJane!

Start of the Birthday Week

Image
Katie’s birthday is tomorrow but the birthday celebrations have already started. We started with a friend’s party yesterday afternoon whose birthday was 2 weeks ago.  It was a very girly party with the sweetest theme. They made crafts and learned to do makeup while tying it all in to what the Bible says about beauty. Our old children’s director led all the fun. I’ll admit I was skeptical if kids would like it but Ashley had this idea to find a fun way for these lessons before middle school. And she did it! All the kids loved it. ❤️ Britney and Bella came home with us for a sleepover. They swam, played on the trampoline and played in their rooms last night. (I think Katie’s favorite part of the day was when next years curriculum arrived through 😉-yep! We’ve officially decided to homeschool her another year) And then this morning we had a foam party and did some more backyard playing.  Heather got here to pick them up around 11:00 and it was time to CHILL. I didn’t give anyone a bedtime

Visit to Plano

Image
I’m behind on my post but we had the best time visiting the Texas McCormicks last weekend. We planned to go over to watch one of Austin’s baseball games but it ended up being canceled because the field was still too wet from all the rain the Friday before. We hated we didn’t get to watch but it was ok. The game was a good excuse to make a visit happen but we really just got wanted to see them.  We got there about 1:30 Saturday and the kids immediately went to playing. Katie said she’d see me when she got hungry. 😉 Rachel, Chad and I got to hang out and it was a beautiful day. At dinner time, the two younger kids were still having too much fun and not interested in going to dinner, so Rachel and I took Austin and Lillian while Chad stayed with Katie and Josey and we brought them take out. It was nice to get one on one time with the “big kids” too. Everyone stayed up late playing, Rachel and I went for a walk on Sunday, and by about noon it was time to head back home. It was a quick vis

Week Update

Image
It has seemed like not too much has been going on since Pops and Piper left last week, but after looking at pics, I guess we have been kind of busy. I didn’t feel all that great for about 3 days after my 2nd shot so last weekend was pretty low key except for Josie Oliver’s 3rd bday party.  I didn’t get one pic of the birthday girl but Jubilee Zoo was fun until Katie’s allergies got the best of her.  Monday-Wednesday were standardized test days so school was different. I tested Katie in the mornings while Lilli did subjects she can do alone and then we switched in the afternoon. And today we had a different day because I am not starting new lessons on a Thursday. One thing we did was start a Marine Biology unit we are all doing together. It will end at the end of our year and we’ll have the ultimate “field trip” with our beach trip.  We finally got back to go back to riding lessons on Tuesday. It had been 3 weeks because it was pouring on their day the 2 weeks before. They are learning

Piper’s Spring Break

Image
While we were in Baton Rouge last weekend we realized Piper was on her spring break this week. Jen had to work several days and was asking Dad if he would keep her during the day, but I suggested they come up here instead. The beauty of homeschooling is we can take a day off for something like that and it doesn’t mess us up. So they got here Tuesday afternoon after we were done with school. We skipped working on Wednesday. And they left at 7o’clock this morning so that I could go get my second vaccine shot, go see Yaya, and then come back and do school. It was very low key, we never left the house. But Dad and I had a nice visit and the girls had a blast! They swam, played on the swing and trampoline, helped Matt in the garden, and did lots of giggling upstairs. I’m so happy Lillian is excited to go back to school next year, but the times like these we have been able to have, have been memory makers for sure. ❤️

Easter Weekend in Baton Rouge

Image
We had a wonderful weekend full of family and love in Baton Rouge. The world is slowly starting to work its way back to normal and we were all so excited that meant we could gather again. We left around lunch time on Friday and our first stop was Nana’s apartment. It had been 6 months since I had seen her and only the 2nd time in a year. It’s so nice that she can have people inside of her apartment now and she’s allowed to come and go so we got lots of time to love  on her.  That evening we had a low key evening at Jen and Ryan’s with only them, us and Dad and Janet. We ordered takeout, decorated cookies and hung out awhile and our girls spent the night there while Matt and I went to Dad’s. The next morning they all came to us and Dad cooked breakfast. We had all of his immediate family except for Daniel and I can’t remember the last that happened.  We went by Nana’s after for another visit before going to Jen’s for the afternoon. Allie had Lilli and Anna dye her hair which I was very
