Another Season Come and Gone

Image
Yesterday was the last day of hunting season and it will definitely go down as a season to remember. Lillian had so many “firsts” and this past weekend was no different. She got her first mallard and gadwall and she had a very proud Daddy and Capn when she did! She was super sad it’s over but said she’s looking forward to sleeping in too. 😉 She was asleep at 8:00 last night! I don’t know that a lot of 12 year olds, girls especially, would choose hunting over time with friends but it was definitely her priority and she learned so much.  We are proud parents for that, and the Straight A honor roll she made for the first semester. I don’t think I’d posted about that yet but she got this a couple of weeks ago. Katie and I had a good weekend too. We went to Risen Rock with Landry and she came over to spend the night after.  She is still loving homeschooling and says she wants to continue another year. We are waiting a little bit longer before we commit to buying a curriculum, but I can see

Happy Birthday Lilli Leigh

Happy Birthday to the sweetest, smartest, funniest 12 year old I know! I can’t believe it has been 12 years since the day you made me a Mama.  And what an amazing 12 years it has been. I won’t say everyday is perfect, but I do love everyday I get to spend with you. We had a great day today celebrating. She woke up to her birthday table and got to open gifts from us and Pops and Honey.  (New shoes she REALLY didn’t want to mess up) I checked her out of school about 10:00 so she could go to lunch with Yaya. (We had all planned to go but we got a call 5 minutes before we were leaving from the friend Katie spent all day Saturday with. She started feeling sick about 12 hours after that play date and had just tested positive for Covid) Yaya brought flowers from Granna ❤️ and Lilli’s gifts by the house and then picked her up for some one on one time. They went to Notini’s and did some shopping at Target.  When she got back we picked up Lilli’s friends from school to go to Risen Rock for a few

Lillian and Jimmy’s Birthday Weekends

I did not intend to let 2 weeks pass without posting but I guess we haven’t had too much going on. The week following New Years was full of sickness in our house. Matt got it first, Lillian had only been to school for a day and a half after Christmas break before the school called that she was sick too, and a few days later it hit me. Matt had it the worst and we were convinced it was Covid but his and Lillian’s tests were both negative. It fully extended the break by a week though because we didn’t go anywhere at all until she went back to school on Monday, the 10th. Last week was more normal. School, work, some hunting and play… But it seemed like sickness was everywhere and we didn’t even know if Baton Rouge was going to be able to happen until last minute. (Lilli’s class of 33 was down to 9- everyone either sick or quarantined)  Unfortunately, Dad and Janet did come down with Covid and were not able to come around this weekend, but we decided to go anyway and had the best time! We

New Years Weekend

Lillian had a busy couple of days in between her deer camp trips last week. She and Matt got home on Monday and we were back up there on Thursday, and in between she had to do a whole talented art project. She was chosen to represent the school in a contest and given this assignment over the break. Two weeks seems like so long until you fill it up with plans. It took her about 10 hours of work and I’m proud of how her painting turned out. We had to take a break on Wednesday to go to the eye doctor because she asked for contacts. I thought we would have to order them but we left with them. She’s already got putting them in and out down and it makes her look even more grown!  New Year’s weekend was super fun and low-key. We missed Shanon and Alex who came down with some sort of sickness at the last minute. For years we had a tradition of doing New Year’s together and this is the third year in a row it has not worked out. So we definitely missed them but glad they are starting to feel bet

Happy New Year!

I always like to start a new year by looking through my pictures and remembering the last year. It’s funny how some things seem like they were so long ago and others that they just happened. And it’s always amazing to see just how many things actually happen in that one trip around the Sun. We started the year with two snow storms- one leaving us in the house for a week.  There was lots of fun family time celebrating holidays, birthdays and weddings. A big change from 2020! We had a summer full of friends And cousin camps And trips The year brought lots of first for Lilli Leigh- new school, new friends, learning to waterski and hunt, first contacts… KatieJane still loves her Mama time while homeschooling and is becoming a real gymnast! It’s so crazy to see how our year started socially distanced and masked and ended with pretty much back to normal. With our family and close friends at least. I still don’t see myself going to a concert of 100,000 people but I wouldn’t have liked that pr
