Craig Camp Weekend and Last Weekend

Image
For the first time since Covid, we had the whole Craig group (minus Anna who was working) at the camp for a weekend. I think all but Michaelyn, Rick and Daniel had been up at some point in these 4 years, but not all together.  We did a lot of shooting  A lot of riding, hiking and sitting by a fire  And of course a lot of eating!  It had been a LONG time since we had had more than an hour or two at a time with Daniel and it was good to catch up with him and his shenanigans too Jennifer, Piper and Daniel got there late Friday and everyone but Lillian was already asleep. Katie tried SO hard to wait up, but she was exhausted from her day. She got to school at 5:45AM Friday for her Medieval Times field trip to Dallas.  She and Madison were partners and had the best time.  The weekend before was me and Matt’s Valentine’s Day date Friday, and then me and Lillian’s Mom and me day Saturday. We got facials that afternoon and went to Bulls, Bands and Barrels at the Brookshire arena that night.  W

Valentine’s Day

We had several days of Valentine’s Day celebrations in the McCormick house. Of course Wednesday was the actual day, and I was surprised with the greatest gifts  Beautiful flowers, and a new angel wing necklace. I don’t know if I ever posted about my old necklace, but after my mom died, I had a gold ring that had Nana’s original engagement diamond that my mom had worn since she was 16. I wore the gold for several years, but it was not really my style, and I had it put in a new setting eventually. Matt took the gold from the ring she wore, and had it melted down and made into four angel wings. My plan was to wear that forever and then when I die, the kids can each have one of the wings I didn’t wear with one of the ones I did and have a set for themselves. But last August I lost it. I have no idea what happened, I just reached for it one day and realized it wasn’t there. We assumed it would turn up, but after six months, we have accepted that it’s really gone and I was shocked when Matt

Last Weekend

I’m trying to be better about updating my blog so that family can keep up with us and I have it to look back on, but I haven’t been doing a very good job. Last weekend started a little early with Koy’s Mom’s birthday party on that Thursday (the 8th- she and Capn have the same one!) Me, Matt and Lillian went but Katie was at gymnastics  That Friday was Night to Shine at Cypress Baptist. It’s a prom that is sponsored by Tim Tebow for kids with special needs. They do them all over the country, and it takes about 400 volunteers to put it together. Middle schoolers are the “paparazzi” and cheer for each person as they walk the red carpet. Katie will be able to participate in that part next year, and Lillian and her friends will be inside with other high schoolers being the companions. The kids all wanted to do something different Saturday so me and Matt took them bowling at Surge. We played arcade games, bowled a game and ate a bunch of nachos and cheese fries 🤣 He doesn’t even know how mu

End of Hunting, Summit, Awards, and More Birthdaying

It was a super busy week around here since Lillian’s Birthday. Her birthday fell on a Thursday and we didn’t celebrate the weekend after because she was at a church retreat through Cypress Baptist. Summit is a big deal every year for 6-12 graders and hundreds of kids go. They all stay in host homes, have 4 church services, 3 small group Bible studies and plenty of fun.  Lillian and Brynn were not put in a house with their other friends, and I was worried for a bit that it was going to be an issue, but they made the most of it and I was super proud of how they handled it. (Having puppies at the house helped I’m sure!) Lillian said the services at night were so moving that she would be bawling crying, and she’s been doing nightly Bible reading ever since. She wants to get back into going on Sunday mornings too. I’m so glad that they have this experience together and there was plenty of fun too. They rented out all of Party Central Saturday afternoon and got to play some sports at the Fie
