Gotta Get Back on the Horse

Image
When the girls started riding lessons, I warned them that at some point they were going to fall off of that horse. Not to scare them of course, just the opposite, I wanted them to be prepared and hoped there were no injuries that came with the fall. Last Monday it finally happened and scared me to death but definitely could have been worse.  The lesson started great. They were so excited because we hadn’t been in several weeks because Landan had Covid. They had gotten a new pony during that time that would not leave me and Katie alone.  I was dealing with it eating my hair at the time so I didn’t see the actual fall but apparently Chica decided she wanted to cut in to a field instead of running straight and ran Lilli’s hip and leg right into a post. As she was coming down she cut her arm on barbed wire.  It knocked the wind out of her really bad and her ribs hurt. Her left hip was visibly swollen and her elbow hit hard. Even with all of that, the first thing she said to me before I cou

16 Years!

Man, where does the time go? In some ways it feels like we were just on that beach saying “I Do,” but in other ways it’s seems like a lifetime ago. We sure were different people then and I’m fortunate to have found someone who I truly love unconditionally and loves me back. And that CHOOSES everyday to stay that way.  It was a pretty normal day. Matt and Lillian were up and out early and Katie and I had school this morning. She and I had our first “Field Trip Friday” that I’m going to try to make a thing. She chose Sci-Port and we really enjoyed it. It had been years and it was the first time I’d gone with my teacher hat on and was able to tie it in to lessons we did this week. And a plus for me is there was no one there. We literally saw maybe 4 other families and there was only one time we were in the same room with one. That’s a good thing for Covid times, and I also got to really focus on her. We saw an IMAX on asteroid hunters and checked out all the exhibits. We used to go all th

2 Days Down

178 days to go. 😉 I’m not seriously counting down yet but it has been kind of hard to get back in a routine. After 17 months of sleeping in and starting school when we wanted to last year, this is a whole new world. The girls had a good first couple of days. Lillian didn’t know anyone in her classes but by the end of the 2nd day she said there were already a few girls she liked talking to that might become friends. We got the bus figured out. She has to walk down to the corner in the mornings for 6:35 pickup, and he’ll drop off in the driveway in the afternoon. She didn’t want me to walk with her so I watered the front flowerbeds and watched. It may only be four houses down, but our lots are big enough to where it’s far enough that I plan on being out there. Even if she’s too embarrassed to have me right next to her it will be from afar. I didn’t take any pics of me and Katie but we got started too. I broke one day up into two so that we could ease into it and have a 4 day week next w

First Day of School

How is it possible??!! I have a 6th and 3rd Grader? A middle schooler? And 3rd grade is such a transition year and we will learn so much. Lilli was up bright and early to wait for the bus at 6:15 this morning. It finally showed around 6:40 but turned before our house so I ended up in carline. I’ve talked with the school so hopefully that’s worked out tomorrow and she’s riding it home today. It didn’t seem to stress her, but I know she must’ve been disappointed because she has been talking about riding the bus to meet people that live in the neighborhood.  She was nervous but I know she will do great! And I didn’t hate the extra hour I had with her. ❤️  I love looking at the pictures through the years to see how they have grown.  Katie may have had a later morning, but it was back to school for us too. We started a little later than normal because Gypsy had a vet appointment. We had planned to walk but she got stung by a wasp on her neck as we walked out the door. 😢 But the plus side o

That’s a Wrap

When Lillian goes back to school tomorrow morning, it will have officially been 517 days since she has been in a classroom that’s not in her house. That is a very long time to be together and I’m going to miss having her with me everyday. So, I wanted to get some one on one time with her before that day comes. We went to see a movie on Monday before meeting Yaya to go shopping.  We went to Hobby Lobby because she wants to redecorate her room, and then to T.J.Maxx so that she has SOMETHING other than t-shirts from the beach and athletic shorts to wear 😉 Yaya took her home, but not before stopping by to hug Katie before her first day back to gymnastics.(Katie had been with Raegan all day who did a great job on her hair.)  It was a big day too!  Because she got asked to join the team developmental class that is invite only. She’s so excited! We’ve had fun with friends during this last week too.  We went to Splash Kingdom with Britney and Bridget over the weekend, had Lily and her brother

Summer is Winding Down

We got to tour Benton Intermediate tonight and went to a parent meeting that told all about what to expect for the school year. Lillian is more than ready to be back in the classroom, and finally getting to see it in person was exciting! There’s about the same number of kids as Apollo, but only two grades so it feels very big. It looks like all of her classes are in one hallway though so that makes it easier and eased her nerves. I like that I’ll be able to picture where she is too.  There will be no back to school for Katie because she will continue on at Little Garden Academy this year. We would let her go back if she wanted to of course, but she asked to stay home and she and I both enjoyed last year. Plus, I’m not sure that I’ve mentioned on my blog, but she was also diagnosed with a heart disease at the beginning of summer.  (The 3 things the doc found)  I’m not REALLY concerned but no way to hear things aren’t 100% normal and not worry at all. So I don’t hate letting one more yea

Craig Family Weekend

Image
After we dropped Andrew and Brooks with Kelly on Thursday morning, the girls and I headed south for a weekend in Baton Rouge and Covington with the Craig side of the family. We’ve had this weekend in Covington on the calendar for a couple of months but we went a day early to see Nana and the rest of the Baton Rouge family.  Dad, Jen and I cooked a huge meal and we had a nice visit over at Jen and Ryan’s that night.  We went to see Nana again on Friday morning and then got back in the car to drive the hour to Michaelyn and Rick’s house in Covington for the weekend. The kids were immediately in the pool and we spent the afternoon and evening swimming, fishing and going on a boat ride I had seen Michaelyn once back in October when she came in town during our first post-Covid visit but it was an hour outside and we didn’t hug or anything. And hadn’t seen Rick at all. It had been WAY too long since Dad had had his family together, so Matt made the decision to drive down too. It was very swe
