We Are So Thankful

Image
I am so thankful for our family and friends and all of the time we get to spend together at the deer camp. It's so nice to be able to get together to eat, drink and relax for days on end with nothing we have to do. We got there Wednesday evening and arrived to find 3 four wheelers put together for the kids.  They had hours of fun riding around with each other  Matt went hunting that afternoon and got us another doe for the freezer.  We all gathered outside to watch him clean it. It was Josey's first one to see. Katie likes being the big kid around her. Do you see her trying to lead her to it?  The next day was Thanksgiving and the guys all went hunting all morning while us girls finished the meal and entertained the kids  Hailey making candy turkeys with them Watching Matt fry the turkey  We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed all gathering around the table together                                                               Crazy Cap'n! :)  I had Yaya snap a few quick pictu

Ahh... Thanksgiving Break

I am really enjoying this week break from school and work. The girls and I have slept in (for us this means 6:30 or 7:00;) and have been lazy every morning so far. On a normal Wednesday at this time Lilli would be on the bus and Hallie would be just getting here. But today I am still drinking coffee as we sit in our pjs and watch the Wild Kratt Christmas special.  So far this week we've seen the Nutcracker, had one lazy day so Katie could get over croup, went to SciPort And yesterday we did a little Christmas shopping. I am not one of those people that thinks Christmas has to wait until after Thanksgiving. It's all the holiday season and I love having a tree. So... Mine has been up for 5 days already  (We have an extra stocking this year because Lala is coming!)  We've enjoyed our time at home but we can't wait to go the deer camp later for more laziness with friends and family And on a different note, Happy Birthday to Bella!  Our crazy dog is 1 today. She's a hand

Dawn, Ducks and Dancing

Image
My Saturday morning started by getting the most beautiful picture of Matt's view from the duck blind at dawn on opening morning. The clouds look like God took a paint brush and painted this just for them.  The pictures didn't come close to doing it justice.             Do you see the rainbow?  They got a limit both days so you know that made for a happy group of guys.  While they were away doing their boy stuff, us girls were here doing our girl stuff. Yaya took us to see the Moscow Ballet's tour of The Great Russian Nutcracker at The Strand and it was amazing.  The girls were very excited to go and Katie made it all of 15 minutes in to the first half before falling asleep in my lap (it started at 2:00 which is usually in the middle of nap time)  She woke up as the lights dimmed again to start the second half. She was mesmerized by the dancers but still a 2 year old so she found it hard to sit still and not talk. I'll just say I'm glad she slept through the first ha

My Lady Bug Girl

Lilli had a book character parade at school today and it took her no time to decide she wanted to be Ladybug Girl. It's one of the first books I remember her really liking and Yaya remembers the day she got her the first one. She was so cute and so surprised that me, Daddy, Katie and Hallie all came to watch.  What a fun Friday and a great way to end the week before we have a week off!

Getting Ready...

Image
Turkey Day is just around the corner. I mean, seriously? Next week? Where has this year gone? We'll gather with family and friends at the camp for 4 nights of eating, drinking and lots of laughter. KatieJane and I started getting ready today by making a double batch of peanut butter balls to snack on while we're up there. As she was dipping them she kept saying "I bet Austin is gonna hope his Mama lets him eat some of these!" She was very proud of her work.  And not Thanksgiving related but Matt should be proud of his work too. He got us a nice doe on Sunday. We were short on deer for the year anyway but we've been totally out since our freezer went out over the summer. Tonight Matt cooked THE most delicious backstrap. One of the many reasons I love this time of year!

Traveling

Image
Anyone that knows me knows I have a hard time being still. That's not just in my everyday life, that applies to my weekends as well. There's too many people to see and things to experience to stay home for too long. I thought this would slow down when we had kids... But it really only got worse. I thought it would slow down when Lilli got to real school... But it didn't. I was looking at my calendar today and between now and the end of January we will go to Dallas, Houston, Baton Rouge, camping at Lake D'Arbonne and Austin. Matt will go to Baton Rouge and camping (cabin of course, maybe one day he'll get me in a tent ;) but all of the rest will be me and the girls. It's all to visit family but we always do something for "kid fun" everywhere we go.  I may travel even more this time of the year. That's because daddy is doing this.  We all have so much to look forward to!

Trick or Treat 2015

Image
Friday was "superhero day" at Apollo so on top of buying a Halloween costume, Lilli got to dress up as Supergirl too. I had a minor surgery on Thursday so Pops and Honey came up to help with the girls while I recovered. They loved being able to watch her get on the bus.  I think it really hit Pops how big she's getting.  She had a good day with a Halloween party and a magic show that she won from selling enough cookie dough and magazines for a fundraiser.  Saturday was Halloween and that's when the real fun began! It was a rainy morning so we spent it carving and painting pumpkins.  Then, that afternoon, our church had their fall fest. We only stayed about an hour because Katie needed a nap to be ready for the night but it was fun. They had bounce houses, face painting and all of your typical carnival games.  After naps it was time for trick or treat! Katie was a witch and Lilli was her cat.  Katie wanted to be a "sceeery" witch and not a cute one so we pain
