Daddy's Girls

We ended cousin camp with a record 22 days! We drove Piper down to Baton Rouge last week and spent a couple of nights down there catching up with family. We came home just in time for Kathleen’s first private tumbling lesson where she got her back handspring!  And two days after we got back, Piper surprised the girls when she FaceTimed from the backyard. 🤣 She and Ryan were on their way to visit family in Dallas and stopped by for some things she left and a bathroom break. It was so funny because they thought she was back again! While the girls and I were in Baton Rouge, Matt had to “get rid of” our rooster who had become overly aggressive. I’m not sure if it was a coincidence, but right after, we had snakes in the coop on back to back mornings. I had to call Matt to come home to handle it two mornings in a row. The first one was relocated, but  the 2nd one was huge and killed one of our 4 week old chicks, so he didn’t get the same fate. We decided it was too big of a coincidence and

I did not take one single picture of Matt today. The downside of a mid-workweek birthday as an adult is that it’s just another Thursday for most of the day. The girls and I tried to make it special with his birthday table full of cards. He got a gift card for a massage and crab legs with a brownie sundae for dinner. We hope he had a good day and he could feel the love. We are thankful for such an amazing Dad and husband! Happy Birthday Matt!

Cousin camp has taken on a new meaning this year, and by the time Piper goes back, she will have been here for 18 nights. For most guests we’d be about over it by now, but she has been zero trouble. The girls aren’t fighting, they are cleaning up after themselves, and aren’t too demanding. I’m trying to have them do some fun stuff, but they are totally fine with chilling at the house too.  Matt took them to Vivian a week ago to pick peas and corn with Capn. They loved our veggie dinner that night! Matt took them around to give them a mini work tour tour too We went to get our nails done and see a movie last weekend. It was Piper and Katie’s first time to get a full set and they LOVE them.  Our 4th of July was very different this year. We normally go to the lake or at least cook and have friends over, but all we did was go to the gym, hang out in the pool for a bit, and ordered pizza.
