Ugh! It’s Been A Week

Image
This week started out wonderfully. We found out early in the week that Lillian was the first student of the month for her class. I went from having only one lot under contract last week to having three properties under contract and two listings by the time Wednesday was done. Everything was going great. But by Wednesday evening things started taking a turn and the last 2 days have felt like a week in itself.  Lillian came home from art that night saying she didn’t feel good and turned out she had a temp of over 101. Then minutes later Matt walked in and looked awful so I had him take his temp and it was over 102. Of course that started a long night for this mama, but I’m not complaining. I’m sure it was much worse for them. Yesterday morning I took Lillian to the doctor and hers was just a virus. But she ran fever on and off all day so she was also home today. Matt’s was much worse. He went to the doctor yesterday morning and we did not hear back from him until about 5 o’clock last nig

Piper Had A Birthday

Image
It’s been since Lilli was in preschool that we’ve made it down to Baton Rouge for Piper’s Birthday. It’s always the beginning of the school year and also the week before a 3 day weekend so we usually wait. They ALWAYS come for our girls bday though and all Piper wanted was a few friends and her cousins so we checked out of school Friday and made the trip.  Friday night was the family party and even though I only got pics of sisters and cousins, the whole extended family was also there. Piper HATES being the center of attention and didn’t even want us to sing but this family didn’t know how to have cake without it, lol. You can see her rolling her eyes in the top pic đŸ™„đŸ˜‚. Lala brought a baby squirrel she was bottle feeding until she can release it and that was the highlight of the night. We had to convince her to put it down to open her presents!! Saturday morning we went to Nana’s house for French toast. It’s her signature breakfast and she has decided to move out of the house she has

9 Years

Image
I didn’t post about this Tuesday because I honestly don’t think she would have wanted me to. But Tuesday, our Anniversary, was also the 9 year anniversary of losing my Mom. It’s so crazy to think! She was my best friend and the person (other than Matt) I was closest to and knew the most about me. But now there’s so much she doesn’t know. She barely knew me as a Mother (that’s baby Lilli with her about a month before she passed). Life has changed so much but then again pictures like this make me remember she lives on. I’ll always have her smile. And everyone that knew her and knows me now says our personalities are so alike too. I know she’s watching but I sure do wish I could call her sometimes like I used to everyday. I have a zillion questions and even 9 years later I miss that Mother’s love. I know there are lots of people that love me but none like that. A mother’s love is something different. But she taught me that “love is a verb” and “actions speak louder than words” and I’m pas

14 years

“Been doing this for 14+ years now... This is the way to my beautiful brides heart,   Aaaand some Roses. đŸ¤—”  This is the text my sweet husband sent his Mama tonight after he picked up dinner and roses on his way home. We did our main celebration Saturday because tonight was gymnastics and homework... but it’s incredibly sweet that he did this so I didn’t need to cook OR go to the store. He even peeled them! For the first 6 or 7 anniversaries we went on a big trip to Mexico or something. But once kids come that isn’t so easy during school time so you find romance where you can. And I wouldn’t have it any other way! I love him more today than when we said “I Do” 14 years ago. We had no idea what life would hold (still don’t!) but we always do it together. Happy Anniversary Matt!!

Celebrating Early

Image
This Tuesday Matt and I will celebrate 14 years of marriage. That’s crazy, right?? In some ways it doesn’t seem that long but in others it seems like we’ve been together forever. We had a good day yesterday spent looking at houses/land,  (Knocking the spider webs down- if that’s not true love I don’t know what is!) we had a massage, and went to dinner at Nicky’s.  We laughed at how we’re getting old because our original plan was to do an early dinner (to avoid the crowd) at Superior. Well after those massages we decided naps sounded better than margaritas. đŸ˜‚ Nicky’s were good anyway! The girls had fun too because they got to spend the night with Yaya and Capn.  They said they pretty much swam the whole time and I heard all about Capn’s fried fish dinner and waffles for breakfast.  After I picked them up we picked up Shaleigh to play for a few hours and then everyone came to show a house with me before we went to dinner.  A pretty perfect weekend!

It’s FriYAY!

We made it through the 1st full week of school but not without a few hiccups. Katie was out SICK Wednesday with a stomach bug. Luckily it was quick and no one else caught it but I couldn’t believe one of them was out on the 6th day. The week got better from there though. Josie came to play Thursday because I hadn’t seen her in two weeks. I told Cara she needed to find something to do so we could play and she could be here when the girls got off the bus,  It’s seriously crazy how fast she’s growing. She’s not a little baby anymore and is so busy!  After my closing this morning (which is always a great start to a weekend!) I got the sweetest message and picture from Lilli’s teacher.  I think she and I are going to get along great and I really like her already. But most importantly Lilli does. She’s so good about communicating and she has a 4th grader too so she gets the struggle between wanting to still baby them and knowing they are 2 years from middle school. (I love this pic- such a s

One Week Down!

Image
Today marks the end of one week of school. We’ve made it 5 days and they still love it. Teachers are sweet, they love being with their friends and all of the after school stuff has started. It’s funny how quickly you can get back in routine. We celebrated the first weekend with swimming and a sleepover.  Lillian went to Lily Jordan’s house Saturday night for their 1st sleepover over there and Matt was at the camp working so Katie and I had a night alone. She told Kelli she could take Lillian once a week during hunting season so we could do that more. :)  I took advantage of the kids being gone all day and finally got the floors in the bedrooms that I have been wanting for years. No more carpet! Now I will probably have to do the whole house. đŸ˜¬ The last two days have been far from ordinary with everything moved around and us staying at the camp and driving into school but it is well worth it. They finished up about noon today and I worked like crazy until the kids got home from school

School Daze

Today was the 1st day and it went great! The kids said their teachers are really sweet and they were excited to go. We were up early enough for my zillion pictures at home. Look how much they have grown since last year!  I offered to drop Lillian off in carline before I walked Katie to class but she wanted me to walk her in. She said I could say bye in the hall though so of course I hugged her as big and long as I could while telling her I love her as loud as I could. She rolled her eyes but she wasn’t horrified. I’m glad I still have another year or two before I am too embarrassing. She also went back to art class (check out the new glasses too) and Katie and I hung out at the coffee shop next door while she did. She was STARVING because 1st grade eats lunch at 10:45 so she had grilled cheese for her after school snack. That’s going to make things difficult to find something to fill her up without spoiling dinner. But that’s OK, as a first day celebration we decided to just have yogur

Last Day of Summer

Image
That’s a wrap. Summer 2019 is done and tonight is a school night. It’s been a great one. We went to the beach, Did lots of swimming, spent time with all of the cousins. But it’s time to go back and they are excited. We had Shaleigh and Lily over and went to the pool for a few hours. They had it to themselves and it was fun to spend several hours swimming and getting in one last day of play. It was also meet the teacher. Katie has Mrs. Wilhelm (top) but she is still on maternity leave until Labor Day. So for the next month she has Mrs. Huckabee who she knows because she subs and she had her several times in kindergarten. Both of Lillian‘s teachers are new to Apollo this year so we are not sure what to expect but they seemed very nice. Mrs. Winans is her homeroom and then she switches for math and science. It’s a welcome change to only have two teachers this year. Three teachers in third grade was a little much and in fact they’re not even doing that anymore. Back to school also means ba

End of Summer Mini Vacay

Image
A couple of weeks ago the girls and I decided we needed to go visit Rachel and the kids for a mini vacation for the end of summer. She and I have been talking about taking them to the Dallas World Aquarium for probably 2 years and we finally made it happen. (We were hoping case and Lane would be able to tagalong but they had cousin birthday parties so had to skip it and Yaya had just had eye surgery a few days before. we definitely missed them!) We were pulling out of the driveway by 6:15 Saturday morning and by 9:30 we were pulling in their driveway.  Our first stop was the Dallas world aquarium. It was very interesting and we got there at the best time. We got to see the crocodiles, penguins and sloths all being fed. Lilli’s favorite was the crocodiles eating and Katie of course loved the cat (ocelot)  We saw a lot of really cool things and Lillian is already asking when we can go back.  From there we went straight to the Hilton Anatole to try for an early check in and to eat lunch.

The Last Full Week

Image
I truly cannot believe school starts in 4 days and this is the last weekend we have of summer. It went by so fast! I’ve been trying to spend as much time with them as I can while also getting some work done. I’m sure going to miss them but I can definitely say it will be easier to get things accomplished after Wednesday!  Tuesday Katie and I went to Chuck E. Cheese just the 2 of us. I told them each I’d do something one on one and Lil and I went to a movie last weekend so this time it was her turn and this is what she picked. Wednesday we had Shaleigh over to play all day and Thursday we went to the pool with Cara and Josie.  Today was Altitude with friends and Lilli finally got to go back to art.  There were classes all summer but we could never seem to get there at those times. She’s excited to go back regularly and also go back to gymnastics. Those are our only after school activities this year so hopefully it won’t be as crazy as last year was for us! And to top it off we got class
