I hope Kathleen and Case like zucchini!

Image
Because we have lots! Matt came home yesterday with probably 30 lb. from the garden. He'd just picked them Friday and this is how much they'd grown in 5 days! Someone told him the big ones were tough so I was trying to decide what to do with them. I have some frozen for bread and casseroles but also peeled, deseeded, boiled and mashed some for baby food. They'd better like it! ;)I. Thanks Matt!

Look how it's changed!

I posted pictures of Matt and Lilli's garden a month ago.  Look how they compare.  It's crazy how much it's grown! We'll be eating some fresh squash tonight. Now:     One month ago:

Memorial Weekend

Image
We had a wonderfully lazy weekend at the deer camp for Memorial Day.  The whole McCormick family was together as well as some friends for Saturday.  We spent the whole weekend relaxing on the porch, eating (too much, as usual, haha) and just hanging out together.    This was the first time Lilli and Austin have had a chance to play since he started walking and they had a blast together.  She's waited a long time for a playmate. Austin and Katie met each other for the first time too.  He was interested in her but the "big" kid was much cooler.

Nana and Kathleen

I just wanted to share this sweet picture of my grandmother and Kathleen. I'm so lucky to still have a grandmother that is able to travel up here to spend some time with her great granddaughters. Their names are pretty special to her as well. Lillian is Nana's Mom's name and of course Kathleen is named for my mom, her daughter. This was taken this past Friday. Nana, dad, and lizard stayed at our house Friday and Saturday night to break up the day trip they made to Dallas for a birthday party Saturday. We were at the deer camp over the weekend but stayed for a visit and dinner Friday night before we left. We were happy to be able to help out and let them use the house.

Sadie Belle

Image
We have cried more than a few tears over the last few days ever since we found out that Sadie had a fatal fungal infection.  She's only 4 years old so it was especially hard news to get.  It's been getting worse and worse over the last few weeks.  After several trips to the vet over that time they were able to diagnose it a few days ago and we lost her today.  The whole family is going to miss her but especially Matt and Lilli.  She was Matt's buddy that went everywhere with him and he probably spent more time with her than with anyone else.  They really loved each other and their connection was something special.  She was Lilli's friend, play mate and protector.  Lilli told us often that you don't have to worry about monsters because Sadie keeps them scared away.  Any time she would want to go exploring at the deer camp I told her to take Sadie because it really made me feel better to know they were together.  She was much more than a dog, she was part of our famil

They say a picture is worth a thousand words!

I can't really describe what life has been like the last few weeks but this picture pretty much sums it up. This kid can sleep through anything!  We're not going to know what to do with a (somewhat) quiet night tonight while Lilli is spending the night having fun with Yaya and Cap'n! Maybe an afternoon in the pool will get rid of some of that energy. Somehow I doubt that though :)

It's Summer!

Image
Our summer officially started this weekend. It's that time of year when the kiddie pool gets filled up and our days are spent outside. I wasn't sure how it was going to work with a newborn but Katie loves it outside as much as her big sister. She's been perfectly happy watching or napping from her swing or bouncer. I'm sure in the next month or two I'll have her in there with her. :)

I'm one lucky Mama!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there. I have had a wonderful one! It was actually a whole weekend. It started yesterday with a trip to the deer camp for a crawfish boil. Matt worked all week to catch enough to boil for us and Yaya and Cap'n.  He caught about 20 pounds and they were huge!  This field may not have had a lot of crawfish but they were definitely quality. Biggest ever for sure and we ate every one of them. Lilli spent the afternoon picking flowers for a Mother's Day bouquet for a centerpiece on the table. That place is kid heaven. But who wouldn't love it? This morning we woke up and had breakfast at the camp and then came home for a relaxing afternoon. We went to the bookstore, went to lunch, all took a nap and we're watching movies now. I also got some great gifts that I was completely surprised about. Matt got me a ring with Lilli and Katie's birthstones that I am in love with and Lilli and Katie had a box of chocolate covered strawberr

First bath!

This is the first of many baths these girls are going to take together. We thought Katie wouldn't like it but she seemed to be ok with it and Lilli thought it was so fun!

Thankful for friends

Image
I'm so thankful for the support of all the friends and family we've had over the last couple of weeks. Adjusting to a new baby is never easy and we've had lots of people stop by with gifts or to offer help. Matt and I had our first night in the house with just us and Katie tonight. Brian and Rebecca were very sweet and offered to take Lilli for a few hours and we of course took them up on it. Matt went and picked up sushi and we had the evening to ourselves. Last week they came over with lasagna, bread and brownies and stayed for dinner and met Katie. We definitely owe y'all if you decide to give Sophie that baby sister she is asking for. ;)

Katie meets a cousin

Image
And one of her aunt and uncles. Jen, Ryan and Piper drove up Friday afternoon to spend the night to meet Katie and get in a visit with the rest of us. Dan and Anna couldn't make it but Lilli and Piper had the best time playing together and spent most of their time outside enjoying the beautiful weather. It was so nice to get a visit in without a lot of other people. Usually we are in Baton Rouge and don't get as much one on one time. So thankful they made the trip and just wish it could have been longer.

Sweet Sisters

Image
Lilli is really loving being a big sister! She told us on our first day home that she wouldn't have time to play with her toys because she had "big plans for this baby." And as she was holding her this morning she said, "it's good to be a big sister." I took this picture this morning when Lilli brought her a "few" toys to play with. At least she's sharing!

Look how their garden grows!

Image
Matt and Lilli's garden is growing! When we got home from the hospital on Sunday there was one red strawberry on one of the plants and yesterday they got to eat it!  There are several more that should be ready soon. We now have cilantro and basil that are ready to eat too.  We're still waiting on the squash, zucchini, tomatoes and bell peppers and I bet we start to see those in the next few weeks. Matt's garden at the camp is growing too.  I can tell you what Lilli's favorite is going to be.  Blueberries! She will be eating them directly off the plant very soon! Going to really enjoy our fresh produce.  And by the end of this season I am going to be a master at canning.
