Happy Easter!

Image
I hope everyone's Easter weekend was as wonderful as ours. We really enjoyed our last holiday as a family of 3. We dyed eggs on Saturday and of course the Easter bunny came Sunday morning and left Lilli a basket filled with all kinds of goodies and eggs hidden all over the yard. We had a beautiful service at church followed by a delicious brunch at Jack Binion's and then naps for all. Sundays don't get much better than that! What a wonderful way to celebrate the rising of our Lord! Happy Easter!

Spring Break Week

Image
Lilli and I really had a good time this week for Spring Break. It was fun that some of her friends were out of school and we had people to do things with during the day. On Monday we met Mrs. Tiffany and Aubrey at the Bossier Central Library for story and play time. The girls played in the kids section for about an hour and a half and then we went to get some frozen yogurt at Sweet Frog. On Wednesday we had another fun afternoon. We met Tiffany and Aubrey again for lunch at Fudruckers and this time I also picked up Sophie to join us. We all ate burgers and then me, Lilli and Sophie went to the movies to see The Croods. It was a very cute movie and worth seeing if you have a kid to take (or even if you don't :) ) That night we stayed at the deer camp because they had painted our bathrooms and we weren't able to shower at home. It's always so relaxing out there and this time Lilli finally discovered that the big dirt pile was A LOT of fun! I didn't get pictur

Asbury Easter Egg Hunt

Image
Yesterday was Palm Sunday and also the family Easter egg hunt at our church. It's the first one we had been to this year and Lilli had been looking forward to it all week. Everyone brought a "sack" picnic lunch and then hunted eggs after. It was kind of cold and very WINDY so they had to move the hunt inside. This basically just meant that all 900 eggs (for probably 30 kids) were scattered all over the gym floor. I don't think anyone was bothered by that. It took less than a minute for them to all be "found" and the whole time Lilli was screaming "this is awesome!"   I really love that she enjoys going to church there and that we've made some friends.  I wish she was more open to going to children's church so she could be more involved (they do all kinds of things, like waving palm branches at the start of the service yesterday) but she may still be a little young.  And she is definitely going through a "Mama phase

Start of Spring Break!

Image
Lilli and I have been enjoying the last few days with our friends. It is spring break this week so I'm trying to do some fun things with her. The way her days Mother's Day Out days fall she will actually be out for 2 weeks. I feel like we need to do things to keep from getting bored and I'm also trying to stay away from the house as much as possible while our painter is here. So yesterday we met Aubrey and Mrs. Tiffany at Chuck E Cheese again for the afternoon. The girls never even want to play games together but I think they like knowing the other is there. And today we met other Lily and Mrs. Cassie at Chick-fil-A for some lunch and play time. I think Cassie and I are both feeling the effects of bring so pregnant (she is due 6 days after me) because just running errands and a trip to a fast food place had us both ready to go home and rest. Luckily the play time wore the girls out too so they didn't mind.

Lilli's First Camp Out

Image
Matt took Lilli camping today at the deer camp.  He's sent me pictures through out the afternoon and it looks like she's had a blast! This is the first trip they have taken just the two of them and I don't know who was more excited.  She asked if she could put a hot dog and a marshmallow in her mouth at the same time.  She ate 5 hot dogs over the course of the afternoon! Reading to Sadie Driving!     The final verdict was that she did like camping and wants to go again but at one point yesterday afternoon Matt asked if she liked it and her answer was "I'm not sure  yet." Haha, she made it through the whole night but this morning she was ready to go to the deer camp for some cereal and to watch a little tv.  Pretty good for a 3 year old though! Don't feel bad for me being left behind.  I've never been too interested in tent camping and especially not 8 months pregnant.  To be honest I have been looking forward to today al

Houston Zoo!

Image
We had a great day today in Houston with Shanon and Alex! We were up and at their house bright and early and at the zoo by 9:00. The day was absolutely perfect, overcast and about 70. Which was especially a good thing because we spent 5 hours there. It was probably the best zoo I'd ever been to. They had every animal we could think of, everything was very clean and there were volunteers everywhere to answer any question you might have. We all had a great time but of course Lilli loved it the most. Afterwards we went to one of Shanon and Alex's favorite places for sushi and sake bombs. (Lilli and I had water, shrimp tempura and fried rice ;) ) By the time we were done there it was after 4:00 and we were all exhausted so we headed back. Their apartment complex has a great pond with lots of ducks, turtles and fish. We used a whole loaf of bread feeing them and fishing and Lilli (with some help) caught quite a few brim. I think one of Matt's favorite parts of the day was wh

It's been a great birthday!

Image
My birthday celebrating has been wonderful this week.  I never celebrate just one day! It started last weekend in Baton Rouge but I've already posted pictures of that.  On Wednesday Matt decided he was craving crawfish and showed up with 10 lbs for us to share and have a backyard picnic.  This actually wasn't a birthday meal but I'm counting it anyway since it was something fun and different to do as a family. On Thursday, Mrs. Janey and one of her good friends/my boss took me to lunch to celebrate. We had a great time at Macaroni Grill and they had flowers, cookies, cards and magazines for me. The cookies and magazines were to enjoy on the road trip we took to Houston today. We left about 10 this morning and got here about 3.  W spent the afternoon at Shanon and Alex's apartment mostly just hanging out but we also walked down to their pond to feed the ducks and turtles which of course Lilli loved. She mostly just loved spending time with "Uncle Shanny and

2013 Race for the Cure Weekend

Image
We got home a few hours ago from our annual Race for the Cure weekend in Baton Rouge.  We have formed a team, Kathy's Gang, in honor of my Mom for the last 3 years.  Each year I am more overwhelmed by the amount of support we receive from our family and friends.  We raised right at $3000 this year! The support for Susan G. Komen is the most important thing that we get out of this but it also turns in to a very fun weekend.  Dad has friends that travel from out of town for it every year and he had 3 different parties at his house too.  On Friday all of his out of town guest and our family had a delicious gumbo dinner, Saturday afternoon was a reception immediately after the race for all the participants and Saturday night my family through a birthday party for me.  It's not until next weekend but this will be the last time I see them before.  It was a lot of work to coordinate so many events but it was so worth it to be able to spend this special time with our friends and family
