Such an outdoor girl!

Image
Lilli and I decided to join her Daddy at the deer camp this weekend. We'd only gotten to spend one other night there this month because we had either been out of town or getting ready for/having the garage sale.  It's always so relaxing and she absolutely loves to get to spend the whole weekend outside.  It was raining but that's not really a problem when there is a 14 foot porch that wraps around the whole house. And Uncle Josh even got a deer that she got to watch him clean.  It's funny to me that this doesn't even phase her but I guess she's been around it since the day she was born so it shouldn't surprise me.  Most of the weekend was spent on the porch watching tv and playing with the dogs. Such a perfect place to spend the weekend! We're looking forward to many more there over the next few months with the family.   She even has her own little boots to wear there.

Sunday and Shrine Circus

Hailey and I decided to have our garage sale for 2 days over the weekend so Sunday was an early morning as well.  We learned that not too many people come on Sundays but we were both satisfied with how it went for our first experience.  It was kind of nice that it was quiet and Nana and Lizard got to come sit out and visit while it was going on because they were leaving at noon.  It was a lot of work but the weekend was great on top of it.  It was pretty much just a girl slumber party.  Each of us with a dog.  Lizard and her dog were in the guest room, Nana was in Lilli's bed with her dog and me, Hailey and Lilli and our 2 dogs were all in my bed.  I wasn't sure if Hailey and I would get any sleep with that arrangement but it all worked out.  They didn't get in until 7:30 Friday so we hung out for a couple of hours before bed and then Saturday I cooked and we stayed up watching the LSU game and visiting.  I was so grateful that my grandma and aunt drove up to help me while

A busy Saturday!

Our day started bright (well still dark actually) and early at 5:00 today.  Hailey and I had our first ever garage sale this morning.  We have been cleaning out our houses and garages for weeks preparing and it turned out well.  I think we were both satisfied with how much we sold today and still have tomorrow to try to get rid of what we have left.  Lizard and Nana were so sweet to drive up from Baton Rouge on Friday to entertain Lilli for me while this was going on.  So while Hailey and I were working, this is what Lilli got to do:   I think she would definitely tell you that she got the better end of the deal.  We wrapped up at 1:00 and everyone had a nap.  Once we got moving again we all went to the Jubilee Zoo in Blanchard to play for the afternoon.  All of this was Lilli's idea too.  When she heard Nana and Lizard were coming she said "I want to go to the park and then the petting zoo." I guess she got exactly what she asked for.  We fed the animals,

Mama and Lilli Weekend

Image
Matt is at the deer camp this weekend but Lilli and I decided to spend it at home.  It's been kind of a long week and I've been exhausted.  My grandmother (Dad's Mom) passed away on Monday so we left early Tuesday to go to Baton Rouge to be with my Dad and didn't get back until Thursday.  She was 95 and her health had been declining for a while now so it was a blessing when she went.  Her quality of life was very poor.  She and my Dad were close and we will all miss her but I know she is in a better place.  It was also a blessing it happened when it did.  My Dad left yesterday for a month long European tour that he's had planned for a long time.  I know it would have been too hard on him if he would have gotten the call when he was there so I am grateful he got to say his goodbyes and leave for this amazing trip. Friday was a busy day.  We are having a garage sale next weekend so I spent the whole day cleaning out the garage and then the rest of the house to get c

Deer Camp Girl

We are officially moved in to the new deer camp! Matt and Josh spent most of the day Friday moving everything from the old house and by Friday night they were sleeping in their new beds.  Lilli and I decided we had to go check it out so we got there about 5:00 Saturday to watch the LSU game and eat some of Capn's cooking.  I posted pics of the living room last week but here are a few of the rest of the house. Swinging on the porch with Yaya Kitchen Lilli's room (Kids room, but just her for now) There is another set of bunk beds you can't see. And a TV on the wall behind where this was taken. She loved watching Dora as she fell asleep. A treat because we don't do that at home. :) Our room Sitting on the porch watching LSU play Deep in conversation Lilli was so excited she woke me up at 5:30 this morning.  I told her we weren't getting out of bed until it was daylight but we were still up and outside by 6:15.  I spent the morning sitt

Back to "School"

Image
Lilli's teacher, Ms. Alicia, just sent me this picture she took of her yesterday at her first day back at school.  She said "your child does not like to smile for the camera." Haha, Do you think that could be because I've taken her picture almost everyday her whole life?  Lilli said she had a great time at school and wasn't upset at all when I dropped her off.  She said she and her friend Katie "painted and played with their hair in the vanity." Doesn't sound like much "school" but I know they did talk about the letter A and circles from what Ms. Alicia sent home.  I think it's going to be much more learning than she had last year.  I'm just glad she likes it and it was so nice to go back to the office and have some adult conversations yesterday.  I think we're both excited to get back in our normal routine.

It's Moving Time!!

Image
The deer camp is completed and furniture is being moved in! I know a few boys that are VERY VERY happy right now.  Lilli and I are going to go Saturday night to spend the night and watch the LSU game.  I'll have lots of pics at that time but here is a preview of the living room.   I cannot wait!

She is definitely Matt's daughter

Image
Last week Matt told Lilli he wouldn't see her over the weekend because he was going to hunt doves.  She got really excited and asked him to bring her back some to play with and "take the meat off." Any time someone asked her where Daddy was she said "dove hunting" and each night when they talked she said "don't forget to bring me some doves, Daddy." So that's exactly what he did. When we got home Monday afternoon they played in the backyard with them and then cleaned them, cooked them and ate them together.  All with her flowery dress on. :)

Baton Rouge Sunday

Image
We had another great day in Baton Rouge today.  We had a fairly lazy morning with Pops while we waited on Nana, Peggy and Lizard to get to his house after church.  We all had plans to go see Mike the Tiger and then have lunch together.  Lilli really enjoyed seeing Mike but it was too bad he was sleeping the whole time.  We told her he was tired from the game last night. You can kind of see him to the right Nana had a request for lunch after.  She and Papa loved going to Sunday brunch at the Mexican Restaurant on LSU campus, Serrano's.  Tomorrow would have been their 62nd wedding anniversary but we lost him on September 24th of last year.  We ordered his favorite foods and drinks to celebrate their years. Most of the family was able to come over to Pops' house for dinner tonight.  He made us a great meal of burgers, potato salad, green beans and brownie sundaes.  We all ate WAY too much (as we usually do when we get together) and had a blast hanging around the house and

Happy Birthday Piper!

Image
Lilli and I came down to Baton Rouge for her cousin, Piper's, birthday party.  She turned 2 last week but the party was yesterday.  All the kids were so cute playing and "helping" Piper open all of her presents.  It was also the first LSU football game of the year and Lizard got all of the girls matching outfits.  How cute are they? Matt had a good day as well.  It was the opening day of dove season in Arkansas! I won't be seeing him on the weekends until February except at the deer camp. :) He was very happy because they ended up with a limit by the end of the day.  Very exciting considering when we had our picnic on the dove field last weekend we only saw one.
