The Family That Plays Together

Image
Stays together. And play we did! All of the Mccormicks went to the deer camp after the birthday to boil crawfish and play and the new game room. That thing is super cool him we are going to have a lot of fun times in there. Most of the afternoon was spent outside on the porch watching the guys boil the most delicious crawfish. I don’t know how they do it but no one else’s ever compares. The kids were also entertained with the ride with Yaya and Hailey to the enchanted Forest. There were some magical fairies that knew all these kids were coming because they left a surprise for each one of them. As you can see from Lane and Katie‘s faces, they loved the chocolate part of the surprise. Lillian and Austin spent most of the afternoon riding on their four wheelers. It’s definitely their favorite thing to do out there. Hailey also brought tons of eggs and dye so that we could do that with the kids to get ready for the Easter bunny next week. Some of them took it very seriously and it was very

A Very Merry Unbirthday

Image
What do you do when your January and April birthday babies want to have a party together? You pick a random weekend in March to celebrate. The Alice in Wonderland song when she is with the mad Hatter about the unbirthdays is what was in my head the whole time I was decorating.  It really did work out well though and this may be our new tradition until they start to care. They didn’t mind sharing and most of their friends are friends with both of them so there was no problems. We had it at the Party Barn like we have had the last several. Bobbi does a great job and makes it so easy. It was Harry Potter themed since that is their latest obsession and it turned out really cute. The kids bounced in the bounce house, held the bird and played in the photo booth to start. And then it was time to eat (I served a brunch of grits, Yaya’s chicken salad croissants, donut holes, fruit, and Chick-fil-A chicken minis) and have cake. I got them each their own so that they could blow out a candle and t

9 more weeks

Image
It’s hard to believe that in 62 days (but who’s counting?;) it will be the last day of school. Lilli finished the 3rd 9 weeks with straight A’s again and also made her AR goal. All the kids in school that do get a party at the end of each quarter and this time it was nachos on the playground. Katie and I were there to help!  And Lilli also got to start her talented art class the Friday before spring break and came home with her first drawing. I love that she had chalk and paint on her cheek and knees. That makes a happy girl!

Take Your Daughters to Work Day

Image
I had a busy workday today. Sundays are always a busy day in real estate but I was sad at the thought of being away from the kids the whole last day of spring break. Now I know that’s probably pretty silly to most of you, especially considering since they got home on Monday we have been home together the whole time. (We haven’t even gone anywhere except a couple trips to my office and the grocery store.) But I’m OK with being silly, and decided to bring them with me to my open house. It was the first time they got to see me interact with potential clients and Lillian said it was pretty cool to watch her mama work. :) It’s been a nice week but I guess it’s back to reality tomorrow with school for both of them. But in nine weeks school will be out and I am already looking forward to summer! (I was impressed with Lillian’s chalk art) KatieJane says she’s working with Daddy when she grows up.

Spring Time

Image
Spring doesn’t technically start for another week but it’s spring break here in Bossier and it feels like it! The weather is absolutely beautiful and the girls and I have spent almost all of the last 24 hours outside.  I got this idea last week to start a fairy garden. It started with just a couple little things in a pot and has now turned into the whole front flower bed. They even decided we needed some flowers and planted the two azaleas all by themselves. I did not lift a finger to help. (well besides taking them to the store to get them of course) It’s amazing how much they love it. Like an outdoor Barbie house. What’s funny is that I sent the idea to Yaya last week because I thought it would be up her alley and something that she might like to add to for them. I guess great minds think a like because she had the exact same thing at her house for the weekend when they spent three nights with her. It’s been a fun little project for them and I like that it’s getting them into gardeni

I Had a Birthday!

Image
I cannot believe I forgot to post about my own birthday yesterday. As you know, I have always been a big believer that birthdays should be thoroughly celebrated. And have never shied away from making big plans for my own. But as I get older I guess it’s not quite as exciting. Probably because no matter what I do those numbers won’t stop going up. 😊 But as my Nana says, “it beats the alternative!” And I know she’s right- Getting older is a privilege denied to many...  My morning was pretty uneventful, spent cleaning the house and grocery shopping. But the afternoon was wonderful! I didn’t take any pics of me and Katie’s lunch with Yaya, Hailey, Lane and Sandy but we had the best cheesecake. I didn’t take any pictures of the four of us going to dinner with Cara and Luke either but we all enjoyed Outback. I did get a picture of the crown Katie’s teacher gave me that she had me wear half the day. ;) And a picture of the beautiful roses my sweet husband surprised me with.  Plus we were out

TAP and Swim

Image
It’s been a good 24 hours for accomplishments for our girls. Lillian had her theater debut when she performed last night as a Knight in a scene from the Princess and the Mattress. I know I’ve mentioned that she is in the Talented Arts Program (TAP) for Bossier Parish and this was their end of year performance.  We’re still waiting on talented art to start so I have a feeling that may be next school year. She’s the only kid at Apollo in 2 programs so she’s proud of that.  And today we went to Katie’s 4th (I think) swim lesson and found out she was moved to the next level. Her teacher said that’s an impressive amount of time to level up and I definitely agree. Especially since before a month ago she’d only swam without a life jacket once or twice.  She gets a private lesson for now since they had to add a class to keep our day but I’m sure that won’t last. We definitely have one kid that’s naturally more artsy and one more athletic but they are both good at and enjoy it all!

Birthday, Brunch and Baseball

Image
We had a jam packed weekend in Baton Rouge that started with a birthday dinner at Pops and Honey’s for me.  It was almost a week early but we’ve made it our tradition to celebrate at the same time as our annual Race for the Cure walk. So nice for so many members of our family to be together and I especially appreciate the ones that travel so far. We decided to make it more low key this year. We didn’t form a team or fundraise but the family did get together and walk. It’s obviously a good cause that we all still donate to but we’re looking for a new cause to support in my Mom’s name that would have been closer to her heart. We decided to keep it just family at the walk but went to the Londoner for brunch after and some of the “Beck side of the family” met us there. These are family friends from forever. The people who met us are the kids of the person that introduced Nana and Papa over 60 years ago. And then they all grew up with my parents and aunts and uncles. So cool.  It was a coin
