Busy Girls

We got back from our trip with full intentions of getting right back to work. Kathleen and I had one normal day, but by that night, a stomach bug took her down. I’ll spare details but it was a rough one and she was sick for a full 5 days with fever and stomach stuff.  We did shortened school in the living room 2 more days but she really felt crummy so there was no gymnastics, soccer or art (she didn’t even feel up to the ride to take Lilli) last week. She napped everyday and never went outside. I think we watched 8 movies on Disney+, but Sammy was a good caretaker and didn’t leave her side. Saturday was the first day of no sickness so we went to her soccer game to support the team for the 1st one of the season. The coach put her in for a few minutes but knew she had no energy since the day before was her first meal of the week. Landry came home with us and we picked up Kaylee. We all went to a movie, they spent the night, and then came to church with us the next morning. Matt decided t

Back to Reality Tomorrow

I know the girls are glad for us to be back, but they had a good week last week too. Pops came to stay while we were gone and I think they all 3 enjoyed it. He did the morning car line (and Aubrey told her Mom she would miss him because he’s hilarious 🤣), made sure Katie’s schoolwork and Lilli’s homework got done, he played catch in the backyard just about everyday, went to gymnastics and soccer, took them for ice cream…. He said it was very different than the last time he stayed alone with them (2 1/2 years ago) because they are pretty self sufficient now. None of them took any pics but they were all happy every time we called and didn’t have any complaints. Yaya is the one that brought them back from the camp last Sunday so they didn’t have to leave when we did. And she came last Wednesday and picked up Katie and they went to lunch, got manicures and pedicures,  shopped and she took her to gymnastics and picked up dinner. We are very lucky to have such great parents that do so much

Last Day

Wednesday morning we both happened to wake up around 7:00 and decided to walk down to the beach real quick to catch the sunrise  This was going to be our beach day so we started with coffee on the beach  and stayed until it was time to go have our lunch bloody Mary’s next door 😉 After lunch, it was back to the beach where I stayed until 5:00. (Matt was there most of the time but he took a nap in the room too.) I read a whole book yesterday and spent the day relaxing. We got dressed and went to another restaurant with a good sunset view We definitely could have used one more day but I guess we would have said that no matter how long we’d been there. By the time it was time to go the next morning I was ready to get back to my girls! But the first trip alone in 5 years is exactly what we needed and I’m so glad we went. The Keys are gorgeous and it’s a trip we will never forget.

Key West

We woke up Tuesday morning to a flat tire. 🤦‍♀️ I was worried it would ruin our day but there was a mechanic just a few doors down that plugged it and we were ready to head to Key West within 30 minutes. The total drive was almost 2 hours but it was such a beautiful and fun drive that it didn’t matter. About halfway there, we decided we were hungry and found a perfect waterside restaurant  We had AMAZING tuna nachos and I had a blackened grouper sandwich and Matt had the fish tacos We don’t know exactly how they made these but we are on a mission to try to replicate it.  We got to Key West about 1:00 and walked around the marina to look at the boats a bit before going to find Rick’s bar. Matt remembered hanging out there when we were there in 2007 so we had a couple of beers and people watched We wandered around town a bit and did some souvenir shopping and even went it to a shipwreck museum. The history was very cool but the best part was the watchtower view We couldn’t decide if we

Florida Keys Vacation

Matt and I had a trip to Mexico planned for March of 2020 to celebrate our 15 year anniversary that year, but just like everything else, Covid ruined that. We have been talking about planning something for awhile but at the end of January we decided to pull the trigger and book it! I wasn’t comfortable leaving the country because I was nervous one of us would get Covid while we were there and they wouldn’t let me come home to my babies, so we decided to finally mark off one of our bucket list trips and fly to Miami, rent a convertible, and drive down the Keys. The car was fun! 2021, Fire engine red, Ford Mustang GT. We had the top down every time we were in it. We finally made it to our hotel about 4:00 Sunday afternoon and I was exhausted! We had been up since about 2:45AM so, after checking out our room at the Chesapeake Beach Resort and our amazing view, we decided to just walk next door for dinner. We went to the rooftop bar for a couple of drinks and Matt had oysters Before we wen

Spring Break

My birthday week was also spring break so it was so nice to not have to teach and just enjoy my time with my girls. I tried not to work too much and get some downtime with them. We had a few plans with friends that unfortunately had to be canceled because Katie got sick. That’s the way it always seems to go, right? Nothing we have to do but have to stay home anyway. We went to the doc twice but it was just a sinus infection. She’d wake up with a temp of 101+ for days but as long as she had Tylenol, she felt fine so it was really hard to make her rest.  She spent most of the week talking to Josey over FaceTime  (who was also on spring break- she is always so silly 😂) or watching movies with me, but it was impossible to stop the gymnastics altogether. I called it a win to keep her off the trampoline 😉  Lilli is my homebody that had no complaints about the extra downtime. Her only other outing was service hours for National Honor Society to pack “geaux bags” and write notes of encourage

It’s My Birthday!

Today is the actual day… a new decade… the Big 4-0. And it’s been a wonderful day! It started with a birthday text from my Mom Now I know it wasn’t actually her but I like to believe it’s a sign. I wish I would have gotten a pic of the first time it came up as a banner because it looked like: Mom Happy, happy birthday! On my Lock Screen. So crazy! I took a screenshot of the texts open to show she is programmed in my phone as Mrs. Glenda. I have NO IDEA why it would show as “Mom” on the banner but it made me cry happy tears to think maybe she really was telling me to enjoy my day. ❤️ Mrs. Sally, Mom and Mrs. Glenda- she sent me this pic today too.  I got lots of other calls and texts from most of the family this morning as I drank my coffee and it was a nice way to start the day. I had a massage and facial booked at 9AM because a group of friends had gotten together to get me a gift card to Massage Envy. After that, the girls and I met Yaya and Hailey at a new Mexican restaurant for lun
