Mom and Me

Last weekend was our 2nd annual Lil and Mom trip. Between spending almost every weekend of hunting season at the camp with Matt while KJ and I stay home, and being at school all day, I know I get a lot less time with her than I do Kathleen. So last year I started our one on one trip to get in some good, uninterrupted time together. We looked at a few different places within a few hours of here but decided to go to Hot Springs again because the timing was perfect to see the tulips at Garvan Gardens. That was our first stop and we spent about an hour and a half walking around, enjoying the beautiful scenery and day.  From there, we drove to downtown to walk around, have lunch and do some shopping. We also decided to check out the wax museum which was part cool, part creepy. 😉 When we had enough shopping, we drove over to the Mid-America Science Museum. Hay Hay mentioned the Dino trail and knew Lilli would like it. She may have outgrown toys, but her dinosaurs are some of the ones she st

Southern Classic and More Birthday

Last Friday was a belated birthday celebration with Cara and Luke. We went to Pepito’s XO and had an adult night for the first time in forever. Lilli and Kathleen stayed home alone for the first time past dark and did great. They were hanging out together when we got back! I expected to find them each in their own rooms, so I was pleasantly surprised.  Dinner was delicious and it was nice to catch up with friends. This travel sports is a whole new world for us. I feel like we are either just getting back from a meet or preparing for the next one, but we are loving every minute. This past weekend we had the Southern Classic in Hammond and made it a long weekend since it’s also spring break. We drove down on Saturday morning and went on to Covington to Michaelyn and Rick’s house for the night. We always love hanging out by the pool and looking at the water and taking a boat ride. The bayou to the river is where the movie “Where the Crawdads Sing” was partially filmed. We were sad Ryan wa

It’s My Birthday!

Today marks another trip around the Sun for me- 41 years old. It was a great day and I’m super thankful for sweet family that made it so special. Yaya took me and Kathleen to lunch at the Mexican restaurant behind the house. We had to go kind of early because she had standardized testing this afternoon. When she got done with that, I left for a massage, while Matt took Lilli to her riding lesson. We came home to crawfish for dinner, cake and presents and family movie night. I think it marks the end of birthdays for awhile. In this family it’s someone’s birthday just about once a week for the first two months of the year. We went to Plano two weeks ago to celebrate Austin’s. Yaya drove me and the girls on a Saturday morning We went to the party at a “Fowling” place. It’s football/bowling- you try to knock down pins with a football. The kids had a great time! And it’s not a bad place for adults too. There are snacks and full bar 😉 After the party, Yaya and I took Lillian shopping for a
