Nothing Was Going to Rain on Our Parade

Image
Well... actually it did but that didn’t stop us from going. We’d been talking about meeting up with Cara and Luke to go all week and we didn’t fully decide we were going until we were parked at the Glenwood Tea Room ready to walk down 😉 It was cold (50s)  and rainy but I let the kids dress for sunny and 60 like I thought it was going to be. Despite being cold and the rain it was fun. It was the first Mardi Gras parade Katie remembers and the last time Lilli went was 4 or 5 years ago.  We got there around 1:30 and had to wait until about 2:15 for the first float but it was worth the wait. Highland never disappoints and is known for its throws. We caught footballs, stuffed animals, moon pie, candy, frisbees and ramen on top of tons of beads And only at Highland would they throw a pill bottle of “heart” pills with a sketchy looking black bag inside that turned out to be folded over pop rocks. Plus it bruised my finger. 🤦‍♀️ After about an hour of floats Katie looked at Matt and told him

Daddy Daughter Dance

Last night was Lillian’s 4th and Katie’s 2nd Daddy Daughter Dance and they “danced the night away.” They have been looking forward to this for weeks and both found the perfect dress. Katie loved a hand-me-down from Piper (score!)  and Lillian and I went shopping during our Mom and me day last Saturday before our movie. They both looked beautiful and Matt is always handsome in his suit. I was going to have their hair done by her neighbor but she was slammed with all the Mardi Gras balls so I just straightened it. It definitely shows their personalities because Katie was particular and then wanted make up. Whereas Lilli wanted me to hurry and went make up free. He “picked them up” with roses in hand and they all got in the truck and headed to Outback for dinner.  The dance went from 6:00-8:00 and they partied hard! Matt said they never stopped and Katie fell asleep in the car on the way home (it’s 4 minutes.) 😉 It was a good day for me too! I got a brand new 2019 Expedition. My first ne

Medieval Times

We had a group birthday celebration for the McCormick kids in Dallas yesterday. We were supposed to go a few weeks ago on Lilli’s birthday but the flu made us have to reschedule so it was a long wait. We all met up at Embassy Suites around 2:30. There were gifts and fun before we left to go to Medieval Times for 3:45.  The dinner and show was very cool. In fact as we were leaving this morning they said it was “the coolest thing they’ve ever done that didn’t involve water.”  Their faces were in awe of this the whole time. It was pretty cool to watch live animals and knights fighting while we had dinner. I think me and the girls were the only ones that ate much since it was meat on a bone and you had to eat everything with you hands but it was actually good. Tomato soup with bread, roasted chicken, potato and corn on the cob.  We got back to the hotel and swam in the indoor pool for a bit and then went back to the room for pizza and birthday cake. Me, Lilli, Katie and Austin were in a ro

Happy Valentines Day!!

I’m not really big in to Valentines Day but I do think it’s an excellent excuse to do a little extra to show the people that you love how much you care. The girls woke up this morning to some treats from me and Matt. A stuffed animal, a card, candy and some littlest pet shop figures to paint yourself. And Santa even sent Coco down for a day because he promised she’d get to visit on a few special occasions throughout the year!  Matt walked in after work with flowers (big bouquet for me- single stem for each of the kids) and chocolate covered strawberries. The kids didn’t have parties at school (first time Apollo didn’t since we’ve been there-only 1 party this year) but they all did exchange Valentines. Lillian got a stuffed animal from the same boy for the 2nd year in a row. They aren’t even in the same class but still friends and he obviously has a crush. It’s not reciprocated but he doesn’t even mind and I think it’s sweet. Today was Katie’s book fair so I went to the school for a cou

One on One

We each got some one on one time with one of the girls over the weekend. Friday night Matt and Lillian went to the deer camp while Katie and I stayed home. She and I had a pretty low key night. We went out to dinner and came home and watched a movie and then went to her soccer evaluations the next morning.  Matt and Lillian had a quiet night and the next morning they got up and went for a 4-wheeler ride and fishing on the pond. Matt said it was a great morning getting some time to talk with her. Their fishing trips are becoming more fun for him because she’s now able to do it all completely alone.  They caught several and it was enough to come home to clean and fry on Sunday. (He couldn’t do it Saturday because he and I got a sitter and went to a movie) It was delicious and the perfect end to a great weekend!

Benton Bullseye Tournament

Lillian had her 2nd archery tournament of the year this morning and she did great! We don’t have the official results yet but we added up her score from the picture of her scorecard and we’re pretty sure she doubled it. Last time was around 93 (out of 300) and today is 183. That’s a pretty impressive jump! They shoot 3 rounds of 5 darts at 10 meters and the same thing at 15 meters. (Highest per arrow is 10 so perfect score would be hitting that all 30 times) I’ll be really curious to see her ranking!  From there Yaya took her for a shopping date for her birthday present. They went to Hobby Lobby, ate Panda Express for lunch and clothes shopped at Justice. She was very happy with their finds! What a fun day!
