One on One

Image
After the Daddy/Daughter dance and movie night on Friday, we tried to continue that on through the weekend with getting some real family together time. We haven’t done too much of that since hunting season ended because of other things on the weekends so we decided to take advantage. Saturday was supposed to be my one on one time with Lillian but they were having so much fun together that she wanted Katie to come. They came with me to show a house and then we checked out a coffee shop that we had never been to that has a huge playground. They loved it! And it was perfect because the coffee was good and I was able to sit there on my iPad and get all my work for the day done while they played.  (We did sit and have coffee and hot chocolate together first:) That night was family movie night. We ordered pizza and watched White Fang. The kids love it when we all cuddle on the couch together and something so simple seems to be so special to them. Sunday was my turn to be one on one with Lill

Daddy Daughter Dance

Image
Be still my heart! Matt and Lilli went to the Daddy Daughter dance at Apollo last night and it’s such a special night. Even for me and I don’t even get to go!! She has been looking forward to this for weeks and I know it all makes her feel like a princess.   Yaya was here when she got off the bus and they played outside for a bit before she showered and got ready. I did her hair and Yaya did her makeup. And she did look like a princess!  Daddy “picked her up” with flowers before their date.  Then off they went to eat at Outback and dance the night away!  It’s the last year she gets him to herself so it makes it even better that they had such a great time. Katie and I had a Mommy and me night and went to see Peter Rabbit.  She and I spend a good bit of time alone together already but it’s still rare that it’s doing something fun and she has my full attention. When she’s home during the day I’m still working or cleaning or whatever. I kept phone put away and focused just on her. We laugh

This Got Real!

Real estate has been a slow start for me. I’ve got about 6 buyers I’m working with but no one is in a hurry to buy and I still haven’t had a closing. Now it was never my goal to be a top agent but I would like to make enough to make a difference while also still being able to be with the girls when I want/need to be. I know it’s an attainable goal and the ball is starting to roll. I’ve had a few people call me to start looking to buy (rather than me searching them out) and I got my first listing on Friday! It’s not a multi-million dollar listing or anything but hey! Gotta start somewhere. My sellers are a super sweet couple that I know from Apollo and they are moving to upstate New York (where he’s from) as soon as it sells. Fingers crossed that doesn’t take too long!!

Showering Josie

Image
We had a Mexican fiesta baby shower last night for Cara and Luke. Josie is due in just a little over a month and they are just now starting to prepare. Hunting season just ended a few weeks ago so there’s been no time. :) It turned out super cute and we had about 50 people come. We served ground meat tacos plus pork and chicken fajitas with all the fixings. It was all delicious and I think everyone enjoyed it. The hostesses worked while everyone ate.  But we were done and able to sit and watch Cara and Luke both open a million gifts!  I was happy to be able to do this for my friend and loved the night I got to spend with my family too Can’t wait to meet Josie!!

Busy Little Valentines

Lillian was so sick last week that she ended up missing 4 days of school. So needless to say that made for a pretty low key week at home. Especially since I caught it and didn’t feel great the 2nd half of the week. Going to church on Sunday was the first time we’d left in days.  I was supposed to be in Houston visiting Shanon and Alex and going to Matt’s check-up at Houston Methodist. But all the sickness kept me home with the kids. I was sad to miss seeing them but especially not getting the chance to love on Logan. It was a good thing we took the time to rest because this week has been nonstop so far with no end in sight. On top of everything we’ve done already, I’m also preparing for my first listing on Friday and to throw Cara and Luke a baby shower that night. I worked book fair Monday, Tuesday and will be back there tomorrow. We were very proud to learn Lillian is February’s student of the month when we got there Monday. She missed the announcement while she was out last week.  T

She’s Talented!

Image
Congrats Lilli Leigh! She was screened last Friday morning for talented art and we found out yesterday that she made it! That means she’ll be pulled out of class twice a week now. One hour for talented theatre and one hour for talented art. This will follow her until she graduates high school and it’s pretty exciting that she’ll get to grow this talent through school. I’ve always known she’s talented. Pretty cool to see that others see it too. :)

Austin and Lane’s Birthday Weekend

Image
The whole McCormick clan went up to the deer camp this weekend for some birthday partying. Between January and mid February 9 of the 14 of us have birthdays so there were lots of gifts exchanged. Austin’s birthday was Thursday and so we had a little party for him Saturday morning. Rachel’s Mom, Dad, sister and niece came up for the day too. It was the cutest party with lots of fun games that the kids loved. And it was lots of fun to watch! The cousins always have the greatest time together and us grown girls do too  Lots of laughter and good food is always had. And I love the memories that I know the girls come away with each time. This morning was Lane’s actual birthday. I was happy to be able to see him first thing and sing Happy Birthday before he was even fully awake. Later in the morning Capn and Yaya took all 6 kids to plant some spider lily bulbs.  I’m sure it’s something they’ll always remember. We left early so Matt and I could tackle our “honey do” list. We got it all done an
