DixieMaze Farms

Image
It's been our tradition since Lilli was 2 to go to DixieMaze Farm each fall. We always go the 4 of us but since I'm working or out of town every Sunday this month, we decided to go with Hailey and the boys today. I told Matt not to worry, he'll be back included in our tradition next year. ;)  We did it all! The horse rides, jumpy thing, (hayless;) hayride, barn swing, cow train, slide, corn pit... and of course the corn maze. It was a lot of fun and we had some tired kids this afternoon. I was glad for some Cousin Love today. ❤️

Camp Wedding

Image
Hailey's sister, Mallory, got married in a gorgeous wedding last night. It was opening weekend of teal season so Rachel and I decided to make it a girls night and leave the boys at the camp and the kids with a sitter. (Yaya is on a trip right now with her best girlfriend) We kept Case and Lane during the ceremony since Josh and Hailey were both in it From there we went to the Camps house for a beautiful reception with the most amazing flowers and candles decorating every inch. And such good food! The kids had lots of fun with the sitter that night but the most fun of the weekend (at least according to the girls) was planting mustard green with Capn at the camp Saturday morning. (I love that he took a selfie) And Lilli better watch out because I have a feeling she's about to get put to work! Between helping the guys clean the birds for the first time, and washing dishes after breakfast, she's proving to be pretty useful around there. :)

She Thinks We're Just Hunting

Image
I got this picture from Matt Saturday afternoon. This is the 2nd year he's taken Lilli dove hunting and she loves it. I responded to the picture by asking if they we're seeing any birds. He said "Nah. She thinks we're just hunting." In reality, it's so much more than that. It's bonding and memories being made. It's sharing his love of hunting with his girl. She stayed out there for 3 hours and they said she must have run a mile around that field. They got 16 and I think she picked up just about every one of them.  Case went out there for a bit but we picked him up after about 30 minutes. Dad came in for the weekend (doves are his favorite thing to hunt) and he got 2. But he'd said all day that if he got one or two he'd be happy so mission accomplished!  He got to show Katie how to shoot when she shot his BB gun for this first time. He thoroughly enjoyed the day. Between the nice weather, hunt, time with his granddaughters and an LSU win, he was

Katie's First Day of School

Image
It felt like it was forever between the time that Lilli started school until today. Katie had an extra month but it was so busy with my studying and real estate that she was bored and ready to go back. Britney was getting out of her car when we pulled up so she ran up all excited and never looked back. I had to make her stop to kiss me bye. She said on the way that she "wasn't really excited about school but she was very excited to see Britney everyday"  I didn't get much information about her day. She "couldn't remember" anything that happened but she did tell Yaya she said the pledge, a prayer and drew a picture of herself. That's something. ;) Good luck KatieJane! I hope you have a wonderful last year of preschool!

Labor Day Weekend

Image
We went to Baton Rouge for a couple of nights for Labor Day weekend. It's become a tradition for the girls and I to go down to hang out and watch the first LSU game while Matt and all the guys are having their first hunting weekend of the season. They had a great dove hunt Saturday morning. I didn't get any pics of birds but I did get a sunrise pic. Pipers birthday was August 23rd but Jen waited on her party so that Lilli and Katie could be there. She had a bounce house and 12 little girls partying all afternoon. Then Sunday, the whole family went to church together before going to try to see Mike VII and brunch at The Chimes on campus. Mike was sleeping (both times we tried) but still very cute. Jen and I took the girls to the pool before our big family dinner. It was a big day and both girls were asleep by 7:30. On the way out of town this morning I decided to try Mike one more time since we pass his habitat on the way out of town! I'm glad we did! He was up and active an

I Did It!

After 3 months of studying and plenty of stress, I passed my real estate test last Monday. And I think I finally made the decision to stick with Coldwell Banker. I was a struggle to make the decision but having Sandy as a  mentor is a great plus. The manager is very hands on and having an in-house IT guy sold me. I'm prepared for the nights and weekends it will take to get started, but I think it's going to be a good fit. Between my experience in the office of Century 21 right out of college, to United Title and finally an assistant/closing coordinator, I have a pretty good idea of what I'm getting in to. Matt has been very supportive and ok knowing he may have to take on a little more "home stuff." And we also have an awesome babysitter who knows she is on call. I'm ready to start this new chapter!

Fun Friday

Image
Apollo PTL hosted their first "Fun Friday" of the year today. It's a fundraiser they have about once a month and definitely the biggest money maker. We usually earn close to $1000 with each popcorn and pickle but today was just popsicle day and still earned us around $300. Even though I've never even helped with one of these days, I volunteered to chair this committee. Supposedly other than president and vice president, this job is the most work. That may be true but I had some awesome ladies helping me (only one had done this before but we figured it out) and ended up having lots of fun! I had my little helper with me too. She passed out popsicles and worked as hard as anyone for the 4 hours we were there. She didn't mind because she ended up eating 7! Popsicles over that time. :)  Lilli gave up recess to help Mom today too.  I love being able to be involved at the school. But it makes it all that much better that she thinks it's cool I'm there too. That
