Shrine Circus

Image
The weekend of kid fun continued yesterday with the circus.  Matt and I took Lilli when she was 2 but she really wasn't old enough to appreciate it.  They are both old enough now and we all had so much fun! We got there about an hour early for an elephant ride   Face Painting A pony ride And some snake holding (sometimes I wonder if she's mine :)   After all of that we got settled in to our front row seats for the show.  Of course a circus isn't complete without cotton candy.   This was the REAL circus.  Complete with clowns, tigers, elephants and acts that had me on the edge of my seat and wanting to cover my eyes because I was so nervous.  The lady that stood in the cage with 3 motorcycles driving circles around her, crazy!     And if that wasn't enough, we went straight from there to Jill's Gymnastics for a birthday party.  Before coming home to Lala spending an hour and a half in the pool with them.  I didn't have tha

Go, Go, Let's Go!

Last night was the big game that Lilli had been waiting for.  She had been practicing all week to cheer at the Benton vs. Huntington game and she was ready! She did get a little nervous right as we were walking in but ended up having a great time and did great! She knew all the cheers and was so happy that me, Daddy, Katie Yaya and Lala were all that to cheer HER on. (Shanon didn't make it because of a  death in the family.  His family could use prayers from anyone ready this.  They've had a lot of loss and heartache lately) We were so happy to be there and I really hope she ends up doing cheer, dance line, band.... something when she's in high school.  My high school didn't even have a football team (magnet) and I think it would be so fun to spend Friday nights cheering a team on.  I think Lilli's biggest fan was Mrs. KatieJane.  We went down to take some pictures and she was screaming her sisters name and waving more than I was.  She wants to be just like

This and That

We haven't had too much going on lately. We had a very quiet weekend and stayed home other than Lilli's cheer camp, a birthday party and church. Seeing it written doesn't sound too relaxing but that's an uneventful weekend to us! We've been practicing this week so she's ready to cheer at the Benton High football game Friday night. Yaya, Lala, and Uncle Shanny are all coming to watch her so she wants to know them.  Matt took Bella hunting over the weekend and he sent me the cutest picture. I think their weekend was relatively uneventful too but she did pick up one dove and he says he hopes to take her a lot more. Katie is still having a hard time adjusting to school.  Out of the 7 days we have had so far, she has cried at drop-off for 6 of those.  It makes it so hard for this Mama to leave but I know that's the only way she will get used to it.  After she settles down, Mrs. Michi says that she's one of the only  ones that will sit stil

Little Rebel

No, I'm not talking about one of the girls... I'm talking about the newest member of our family. Rebel Pebble McCormick Lilli's new pet hamster. She saved her money for 2 months and bought him, the cage and the food herself. We got him yesterday (a few days earlier than planned) as her reward for her straight A's progress report.  Now I wasn't thrilled with the idea of a rodent in my house. But when she asked me a few months ago I agreed she could have one if she bought it.  I think she's responsible enough to care for him herself and I must admit he's pretty cute. I watched him running all over the cage and up and down the tubes for at least an hour. I hope this experience is better than the Guinea pig from a few years ago. Time will tell!

Teal, First Dove Hunt and Family Forever

Image
We had a big weekend at the camp. It was opening of teal season and that's always a big deal for the guys.  The morning was beautiful (minus the short rain) and they were delicious that night! (Notice the rainbow if you can get passed the handsome faces ;)  But the REALLY big deal was that half of the kids had their first dove hunt.  I mentioned in my last post how excited Lilli was all week. And it had doubled by Saturday.  They did not go until 4:00 and she must have asked 20 times how much longer she had to wait.  Even though there was a lot more "sitting and hiding" than she expected, she loved it! And can't wait to go again. (Matt said she couldn't sit still.)  It was Case and Austin's first time in the dove field too. Austin went deer hunting last year but this was Case and Lilli's first time for anything. Josey and Lane are too little. And KatieJane wasn't interested.  Maybe one day. But even though she happily took her Daddy's hand to watch

Student of the Month

Image
I got a text from Lilli's teacher this morning that she is student of the month!  We are so proud of her! It's chosen by each of the teachers in her grade nominating one student in their class. Then the principal chooses from the nominees. She's the 1st first grader this year and there will only be 9 total so it's a huge honor. She was more excited at the fact that she got to choose from the treasure chest, be the line leader and get a sucker. :)  She's had a great week! It's a short one because of the holiday on Monday. She was surprised after school Tuesday that Raegan was coming to play while Matt and I went to dinner with Cara and Luke. She got her tests back with A's and one B. She's told EVERYONE she sees that her Daddy is taking her hunting this weekend. Including the dental hygienist. They both had good checkups today and Katie had her first cleaning. She didn't even have an appointment but always wants to do anything Lilli is doing. And the

First Day of Preschool

Image
Today was Ms. KatieJane's first day of preschool!   All summer she has been saying she didn't want to go but then a few days ago she decided she was excited. You can see by the big smile on her face that she still was this morning. (I love how she's incapable of opening her eyes with a big smile- just like me and my Mom) The excitement lasted until it was time to go in her classroom. Then the tears started... And lasted for about 40 minutes. Her teacher said after that she was fine and had fun.  She had nothing but good things to tell Yaya when we met her for lunch after so I hope she remembers that for Friday.

Labor Day Weekend 2016

Image
Labor Day is traditionally a holiday that celebrates the contributions that workers have made to our country. But to our family? It means the start of hunting season! And LSU football! Matt got started a couple of days early by leaving Wednesday night to drive to San Antonio with Wesley. Dove season opens September 1st in Texas so they were there for that. And then drove back Friday to be at the camp for the Arkansas opening on Saturday.    That was a long drive for an extra 24 hours of hunting but we know how die hard he is.  I  decided last minute to go to Baton Rouge for the weekend.  Now that Lilli is in school it's not easy to go as often. It makes her so exhausted the next week but with a 3 day weekend we could go and still have a day at home. It was low key. We spent Friday night at Jens visiting and playing with their new Guinea pig. And then Saturday we went swimming at Pops and Honey's pool  Played with the ducks  And ate dinner and watched the LSU game together. The
