Life Lately

Image
We have been doing all of the things I was hoping for this summer. Lots of time in the pool, I think I’ve read 15 books so far, and a little bit of work mixed in there.  Lilli and Matt and working, and when we aren’t home, I’m trying to be sure Katie gets as much time as possible with Landry. We leave for Colorado in 2 weeks and they will move to Ft. Worth while we are gone.  They had the best time at her birthday party  We went to Splash Kingdom with them and she and Britney both spent the night We also had Sadie Stinson over and she spent the night and we went to Surge Usually when Lillian is home from work, she just wants to stay home and chill, but I convinced her to go to Surge with me and Katie and we had a lot of fun together  She still had plenty of chill time on her day off, but was glad she went. The early mornings and hot work are wearing her out but she’s learning so much. She’s driving the tractor totally on her own now! She doesn’t like the 5:30 AM alarm going off in the

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Father’s Day to the best Dad out there. He’s always there for his girls and works so hard to provide for us. No matter how much he has going on, he always makes sure they don’t have a doubt that they come 1st.  He shows up to school and extracurricular events  He’s always there for every holiday/birthday He teaches them the love of nature and value of hard work And to love the things he loves He didn’t want a big gift for Father’s Day but we made sure he felt loved. We sent him for a massage and cooked 2 massive meals both nights of the weekend We love you Matt and hope you had the best Father’s Day!

Big Week

This week was a BIG week in this McCormick household when Lillian started her first job!  She’s going to work with Matt and doing whatever he needs. So far she has: Mowed both yards at the camp, started to learn the tractor, sprayed roundup, dug potatoes in Vivian and spent 3 hours shredding papers at the office. Tuesday was her first day and I had to celebrate with her favorite meal- fried deer meat, green beans and potatoes (both from our garden)- followed by homemade blackberry cobbler. She is learning fast and likes the time she’s getting with her Dad While she’s starting a summer job, me and Katie’s summer hasn’t changed too much. On Sunday she went skating with Britney and her family  On Monday, all 3 of us went to see Jurassic World. Tuesday was Lilli’s first day (and also Nana’s birthday) (Isn’t she pretty???❤️❤️❤️)  and Katie and I just hung around the house and cooked after a dentist appointment.  Lilli is going to be off every Wednesday so that she can still go to her art cl

Summer Days

I love summer… no alarm clocks (sorry Matt 😬), rarely anywhere I HAVE to be, and lots of time with my girls. This week has been pretty busy with work, but we’ve had lots of time for fun too. We went to see Top Gun on Monday, enjoyed pool time several days including one with Cara and Josie Lilli has spent LOTS of time painting and has even made $30 on a butterfly piece that Cara asked her to do for her Mom’s birthday  Her deer mount came in which was super exciting! Matt and I have been busy making the most of our garden hauls. We have been eating fresh potatoes, he’s made about 30 jars of pickles and I’ve made 8 jars of pesto and 13 pans of squash casserole  He also made the 13 hour (round trip) trip to pick up our chicken coop in Oklahoma. Matt’s plan to get it off the trailer was the push it until part was on the grass, and then have Lillian drive the truck out from under it as he and held it up. I “may” have screamed as we started because my 12 year old in the driver’s seat was sce

McCormick Beach Trip

Image
This is the 7th year the McCormicks have had a week long trip of family fun in Gulf Shores. We started in 2015 and only missed in 2020 because of Covid, so it’s definitely something we look forward to all year long.  This year was a little different because everyone’s schedules kept them from staying the whole time, but we did get a couple of days with everyone together. The 4 of us, and Yaya and Capn all arrived on Saturday. We had a couple of nice, quiet days just chilling on the beach together. The girls swam and played in the ocean, tossed the softball and even went crabbing alone.  It was really sweet how much they enjoyed each other’s company but they were ready for cousins by the time Austin and Josey got there on Monday morning. We spent Monday and Tuesday on the beach and each family took off on their own for a lunch out and souvenir shopping one day.  Lane’s last softball game of the season was Tuesday evening and their family drove overnight that night to get there early Wed
