Cozy Leigh

Yes, we may be crazy, but meet the newest member of our zoo! Cozette (it means “little thing” in French) Leigh McCormick Koy’s Mom breeds cockapoos and ever since this litter was born, Lillian has been in love I had never seen a one day old puppy before 😊 Lyndi offered to hold her for us, and after MUCH convincing, Matt finally agreed. But we didn’t tell Lillian. She thought he was saying no and was heartbroken at the thought of her going to another home. We brought her over to “babysit” last Tuesday but we were really just wanting to see how she and Gypsy got along Gypsy was obsessed and loved her immediately. We still didn’t tell Lil because Koy wanted to surprise her, and we knew she wouldn’t agree that taking an 8 week old puppy to the deer camp was too much. We couldn’t tell her but then say ok, glad you love her, she’s going to the kennel for 5 days, lol. So when they got back in town from their Thanksgiving yesterday, we went to pick her up. Lilli was holding her and I told her

Thanksgiving 2023

I am home from a great 3 nights at the deer camp for Thanksgiving, and enjoying sitting in my quiet house as I go through pictures from the week. The week was full of hunting  Riding And lots of family time On Thanksgiving, Matt fried the turkey with his brothers and Dad’s help  He took a quick break to humor me for our family photo shoot and we got a whole group one too. Lillian is making helping Yaya with her roux a tradition It was nice to all gather around the table for the best meal of the year. I can’t believe we forgot to get a picture of the kids! But we did get some great pics of them in their matching pj pants Thanksgiving evening And recreated one of our favorites from 7 years ago the next day They are growing up too fast!  Almost everyone stayed today, but Yaya went home early to start her Christmas decorating, and I brought Lillian home so that she could go to Koy’s parent's Friendsgiving, and then a sleepover with some girlfriends tonight. I’m taking advantage of a qu

Happy Birthday Pops and Opening of Duck Season

Image
We were split last weekend with me and Kathleen in Baton Rouge to celebrate Pops’ birthday and Matt and Lillian at the deer camp for opening of duck season.  It was a very quick visit. We got to his house around 1:00 Saturday and spent the afternoon visiting with friends and family, and had dinner that evening. We went to Jen’s to sleep about 8:00 and were back at his house at 8:00 Sunday morning to have French toast before we left to come home. I wish it could have been longer, but we had to get back for work and an orthodontist appointment. Plus, we will be back in 3 weeks for Kathleen’s first official meet. Matt and Lillian were at the camp with Capn, Josh, Case and Shanon for opening of duck season.  They had two good hunts and everyone was happy with the way their weekend went. Now it’s time to get ready for turkey day!

BMS Fall Ball

When I was in middle school, dances were in the school gym in a Friday afternoon. You “maybe” wore a dress, but more like a “church dress” than something formal. Not anymore!! Benton Middle’s principal doesn’t believe in dances, so these Benton Mama’s have gotten together two years in a row to plan dances they called a Gala and a Ball. We have homecoming type dresses, corsages and boutonnières, hair, makeup and nails done…. I can admit it’s over the top, but they sure did look great and had the best time.  Koy and Lillian  Lilli and her BFFs “The Boys” The girls and the group With the Mamas and siblings She looks too grown!  We took pics at Asbury’s prayer garden and it had rained the day before. We are some good mamas to clean the mud off her shoes after. 😂 Lyndi was only 24 hours out of having gallbladder surgery! A group of Moms chaperoned dinner at Silverstar and then drove them all to the dance. Katie, Landry and I hung out at the house while they were there and then they all cam

Opening Weekend of Deer and 1st Meet

Image
The weekend after Halloween was opening weekend of deer season in Arkansas for the youth hunt. It’s one of Lilli’s favorite weekends of the year, and think her Daddy may have been a little excited too.  She got our first deer of the year and they had a great time in the stand together. She was pretty proud of her pig too!  The next weekend was the start of Kathleen’s favorite season of the year- gymnastics meet season! She had her in-house meet and did great. It’s pretty much like a scrimmage and does not count towards NGA scores or anything, but it’s great practice and treated just like a sanctioned one would be She was first on floor and beam! And those are her two favorites 😊 It’s always so fun to watch and we were so proud. I had to slip out before awards to get home to help Lilli get ready for her “Fall Ball” More pics on that to come!

Happy Halloween!

We had a great night last night for Halloween! Our house is the hang out house, and this holiday was no different. We had 14 teenagers, plus Katie and a friend for trick-or-treating. Holly came with Madison to hang out with me on the trailer. Matt was such a good sport and hauled all 18 of us around for almost 2 hours.  I was a bubble gum machine, Matt was a hunter, Lilli and Maddi were Men in Black agents and Kathleen was an alien. All of the kids had costumes to start, but some of the blowup ones popped within minutes, lol. I didn’t have a meal, but had lots of snacks and they ate every bit! And just like the homecoming posters that are new since we were kids, I guess another thing I’m learning is about “Boo Baskets.” Koy brought Lillian a basket of all of her favorite things and I guess this is something that you do on Halloween. He even had some scented wax melts in there for me which was pretty sweet. It was a super fun night and I’m sure all were tired today, but it was a Hallowe
