Last Week Catch-up

Image
Once again, I don’t have too much to mention but I don’t like to go too long between my catch-up posts either. Last week started with a birthday celebration for Matt! He had a lazy morning with us and had breakfast and a swim in the pool  Before going to work the 2nd half of the day. He was back in time for dinner and cheesecake and it was nice to get to hang out on the actual day.  Most of the mid part of the week was spent organizing the classroom and the curriculum that got delivered. I watched a few YouTube videos about the best ways to organize and I have their worksheets and tests pulled out by week through Christmas! I sure hope I like it this way because it’s done until then, lol.  They’ve voluntarily gone in there quite a bit. The first time I caught them we pulled out the science kit and did an experiment and talked about the scientific method. Another day I caught them both playing a math game together on the computer. They enjoy hanging out in there so I’m glad it’s a space

Life Changes

Image
As I turn my office in to a classroom and think about how this definitely wasn’t the plan, I’m reminded of the Thomas Rhett song that says “you make your plans and you hear GOD laughing, life changes...” this was NOT the plan. When we moved in this house I was so excited for my office that was MY space. I put my desk and a little elliptical in there with plenty of space in the middle for my Pilates mat. We were in quarantine but I never would have thought we would still be when school started 3 months later!  (I never got a “before” picture before the process started- you can see Katie’s desk and the reading bean bag were already there)  And now... my desk and elliptical are still there but it also has two other desks and the walls are covered in school posters and my Pilates space is usually covered with art projects. Half of my work stuff has been moved to my closet to make room in the bookshelves for school supplies.... And I’m pretty excited about it! The State requires you to name

Happy Birthday Matt!!

Happy Birthday Matt! Today is your day and we hope it’s the best one ever! Quarantine may keep us away from friends and family but you know they’re all thinking about you too because your the best Brother, Cousin, Uncle, Son...to them all! You may be super silly and drive me crazy (on purpose) 😜 at times! But you are the best husband and Daddy the girls and I could ask for and we love you TOOOO MUCH! Have a Happy Birthday!! 😘

The Cousins Came Over

Image
It had been about a week since we’d seen Austin, Josey and Rachel. They went to Plano last weekend and stayed until Tuesday and I honestly have no idea what we did the first part of the week. Not too much of anything I guess.  But Thursday they came over and cured our boredom. Rachel and I watched the first half of Hamilton and plan to finish it next week. And then she left to go get ready for their camping trip next week and the cousins stayed 2 nights. We tie-dyed shirts.  They did a whole lot of swimming and a whole lot of playing. I didn’t get pics but when they weren’t in the pool Austin and Lilli were playing Roblox with Case on the iPads. And Katie and Josey played with LOL dolls for 2 days straight. It is enough to wear the little ones out! We love when they come over and will probably be waiting for them at the camp when they get back. 😉

Four Months

Image
My goodness it’s so crazy that this quarantine life has been going on for 4 months now. Sometimes it seems like it’s been going on FOREVER and sometimes it doesn’t seem too bad. But in this time we’ve sold Brown St, lived at the cabin at the camp for 5 weeks, moved in to a new house, and we’ve been here a little over 2 months. We’ve gotten used to the boredom and settled in to somewhat of a routine. Matt has been getting up and leaving for work about 6:30. He’s mowing leases and at the camp. The girls and I are still 100% home unless we go to the camp with him. We wake up in the morning and do some sort of exercise together. I try to get them to read or do SOMETHING that uses their minds mid morning (but limits on screen time is out the window!) We usually have quiet time that may be everyone alone or all together watching a movie mid day. And then they play later in the afternoon. Tuesday was a rainy day so no mowing for Matt and he and Lilli spent 5 hours making pickles and candied p

4th Of July 2020

Image
The 4th of July is usually spent at the lake surrounded by family and friends but Covid-19 messed up yet another tradition. Austin and Josey came to spend the night at our house Thursday and by Friday they were all 4 begging for one more night.(Actually the way Josey asked was by asking me at 8:30 AM what was for dinner. When I told her she wouldn’t be here for dinner she said “oh yes I will.” 😂) So instead of meeting Rachel in Plain Dealing on Friday to bring them back we let them stay and Chad and Rachel drove over to our house to hang for the 4th. The guys swam with the kids and Rachel and I spent most of the time at the kitchen window watching. 😉 It was HOT!  We grilled burgers and all of the summer veggies and then played with thunder snaps and sparklers. We were too tired for them to stay late enough for fireworks (we did watch the neighbors but poor Gypsy did NOT like it) so decided we’d save those for the next cousin sleepover. It was a much more tame than we used to do and M

Sunflowers Are Blooming

Image
Matt has been working on growing sunflowers at the camp for 2 months and the day he had been waiting for finally came- they were all open and perfect for pictures. We haven’t gotten pictures in the sunflowers since Lilli was a toddler and I’m so glad he put forth this effort because they are perfect. (Yes, I may be biased)  He stayed the night last night and the girls and I got up early and got dressed and were at the camp at 8:30. Two months of work for 20 minutes of pictures but definitely worth it! The timing of the flowers opening was perfect because yesterday marked 2 weeks since anyone in either household had been in a public place or within 6 feet of anyone so our quarantine time was up and the kids could play again. It was also good timing because Lillian has been having a rough time. This is my kid that rarely cries and for the last three days in a row there were tears. She said she just wanted to go to Target or Layoco or do SOMETHING normal. It broke my heart. I think she ge
