Trick or Treat!

Image
For the 2nd year in a row the threat of rain had us out the door early. Kelli came over with Lily, Ethan and Emily for Johnny’s pizza and playing before we went trick or treating. I love that the kids are happy with a lap around our own block. It fills their buckets and they are tired by 7:00. Plus they say passing out candy when we get home is as much fun as going door to door. We’ve been down to Baton Rouge a few times for Jen And Ryan’s big block party but I honestly think they like the calmer Halloween better. And that works for me!  (He’s a “Jack” O Lantern. 😉)          Happy Halloween from the McCormicks!!

Fall Family Fun

Image
Despite KJ being sick on Friday I let her go to fall fest at school Saturday morning. She had been 24 hour fever free and on antibiotics for that long so I figured it was ok. It wore her out and she didn’t want to stay the whole time but I was glad we went. Each grade has games set up and the money earned goes to technology for that grade so I always like to support where we can.  Plus the kids love it! Landry came with us because Noah was at his last football game of the season. Katie was supposed to have one too but doc said no to that. We had fun Monday and Tuesday last week watching her play though!  Matt missed out of fall fest because of work so we made today family fun day. The McCormick girls made their first ever trip to the State Fair and said it was the most fun place they’ve ever been. They rode rides for hours and we walked around to see the animals and of course eat fair food.  Then it was home for naps and ending the day with our annual pumpkin carving.  The spider is Li

Sick Again

Poor KatieJane has strep AGAIN for the 2nd time in less than 6 weeks. She woke me up Friday morning crying over her throat and with a fever so off to the doctor we went. She wasn’t upset about missing school but she was definitely upset about missing her Girl Scouts Halloween party last night. Luckily Christy was able to take Lillian so she still got to go but poor Katie stayed home with Mama (Dad was still at work till after it started). We made the best of it by putting on her costume, renting a movie and doing a puzzle together and having popcorn and candy for dinner.  And an update on Lilli’s knee. I initially thought she was being dramatic (sorry Lil if you’re reading this as an adult 😉) but she is still hurting and I’ve decided it’s probably sprained instead of bruised. I told her she had to be off crutches to do all the fun stuff this weekend (was letting her pick between boo at the zoo, the corn maze and the state fair) but she says it hurts to bad to go without so I KNOW it h

Daddy’s Girl

Image
This post is strictly for the record. Miss Kathleen is definitely a daddy‘s girl and wants to do anything and everything with him. She was excited to spend the morning putting out corn and checking cameras with him. And I thought she looked so cute! (Lillian didn’t go because her knee was hurting. She fell off some playground equipment four days ago and I guess I’m going to have to break down and take her to the doctor tomorrow since it is still swollen and sore.)

Busy Little Girls

For a short week there sure has been a lot packed in to it! The kids went back to school Tuesday and I had phone duty at the office and was gone most of the day but it was also the only day we were home in the evening. It was a rainy, cold day so I made one of KJ’a favorites, chili!  The rest of the week was nonstop. I ate lunch with both of the girls before subbing for Katie’s class the 2nd half of the day. It went better than the 1st time I went but I sure do wish her teacher would let me be a turn on a movie sub instead of let’s try to teach them how to read sub:) And then straight after school it was art And soccer. We finally walked in the door a little before 7:00 Thursday I went to make copies for the kindergarten class before working at the food pantry at the church. I wasn’t feeling all that great so decided to go home instead of my office to get some work done and Thursday night was a Girl Scout tour of the Bossier Parish sheriffs station.  Look at the difference on their fac

Life #8?

So Matt was lighting the pilot on the griddle last night unknowing that there was a small gas leak that proceeded to explode in his face.  He was lucky that is was a pretty quick flash burn and this bubble on his middle finger and a spot about similar size on the tip of his nose seem to be the worst. (But you can also see the rest of his hand is gray and leathery and pretty painful) He had to shave his beard back to a goatee and he has no nose hair and about half his eyelashes but it could have been much worse. He said the fireball was about the size of the kitchen but it was so fast it was mainly just his right hand (which has zero hair below the elbow) and face that got hit. He says my post should mainly be to emphasize how important it is to stay safe around gas and not get too comfortable. It’s so crazy and something you think you’ll only see in the movies and definitely has us both shaken up. He Went to the doctor and got it wrapped up and it will be this way for several days but

Annual Pumpkin Patch Pictures

Image
It’s a tradition for our family to meet at Asbury pumpkin patch for pictures with the kids followed by lunch or dinner together. We started when Lillian was one And KatieJane started at 6 months with Case right there by her side.  It’s amazing how much they have grown and how much more “cooperative” (Lilli’s words) they are now.  (I love that they did the school picture pose without   being asked;) I love this tradition we have as a family and how we can look back at them over the years. I pray they stay this “cooperative” until they are grown.  The day was topped off with playing at Altitude with friends this afternoon. What a perfect fall day!

Fall Break in Baton Rouge

Image
Sunday morning we got in the car and headed to Baton Rouge for the start of fall break. We were bringing Nana home and also taking advantage of the week off. Sunday was the whole family at Jen’s for dinner. We just visited and had a really low key evening while kids played.  And then Monday morning Nana came to babysit so I could go take Jen’s reformer Pilates class (she’s the instructor) before meeting Theresa for lunch.  I swear Dan and Anna asked to go- they are just teenagers that hate pictures. :)  The Betts/Schwab kids had school Tuesday so my original plan was to drive down to New Orleans to meet Michaelyn and take the kids for beignets and then the Aquarium and Insecterium. There was a 70% chance of thunderstorms though so we decided to save that for another day and have fun here. Lizard still brought the beignets (She took a vacation day. She said in a few years she will still be working but the McCormick girls will not still be a little enough to want to play with her so why

It’s Been A Good Couple of Days

Yesterday was popcorn and pickle which many be a headache for me but always a fun day at school. My girls love getting up and leaving at 6:30 to go to school because we get pancakes for breakfast and they can “run around the school and not follow the rules” before anyone else gets there. And it’s not just that they put up with it, Nana was here and they had the option of sleeping in and STILL chose to go, crazy! Plus they all get what amounts to an extra few minutes of recess while they eat their snack in the afternoon.  And then on top of that Lillian found out that she is student of the month and she earned her first ever Girl Scout badge, the pet care badge. Nana took us all to sweet frog for yogurt to celebrate.  And then this morning our friends and neighbors came to watch Katie’s soccer game. She loved that Landry was there cheering her on and it was especially sweet because they are leaving for Disney this afternoon.  And the icing on the cake was that Austin and Josey came for
