It's the last weekend of hunting season. Where did it go? I guess it's because Matt only go to hunt a handful of times, but it went by so fast! I was glad he got to go a few times this last week because I know it killed him to miss so much this year. But I'm very thankful he made the decision to make his health the top priority (he originally asked the doctor if he could wait until February for surgery but changed his mind. Neither of us wanted it hanging over our heads for that long) He and Luke had a great morning earlier in the week Then Friday with Wesley and Tyler   And then a great day today.  He's exhausted (and there will be one more tomorrow) but Matt wouldn't feel like Matt without hunting so I'm glad he felt up to it these last 2 weeks.  Us girls enjoyed some girly time for our last weekend. Happy Birthday Lilli! How did we go from this To this In the blink of an eye?   You will always be our baby but we are so proud of the young lady you are becoming.  I think it's safe to say that you had great day.  By 6:30 this morning you had opened your gift from us and Dad had gone to get donuts. Yaya and I came to your school for lunch.  She brought you a cupcake and your roses "from" Granna. This is the sweetest tradition and I held it together when I read you the card at school.  Totally lost it when I was putting them in the vase but was glad you didn't see.  You laugh at how often I cry. :)  After school we went to Toys "R" Us to spend your birthday money.  Before coming home to more gifts And then Daddy took us to the Chinese buffet (your choice) for dinner.   Pops even baked you a king cake and had it sent in overnight mail so that you could have it after dinner. Rachel and I started talking months ago about how we are tired of spending so much on 2 hour birthday parties our kids probably won't even remember.  She had the great idea to start putting that in to "experiences" instead.  I asked Lilli how she would feel about not having a "friend party" this year and going to Great Wolf Lodge for her and Austin's birthdays instead.  She jumped on it! And I think both birthday kids were happy with their decision!   We loaded up Saturday morning and got on the road to Grapevine, TX for a super fun weekend.   I was hoping they might nap on the way but that was a joke! They were too excited and must have asked 100 times how much longer.  It was worth the wait! I love our annual weekend with my side of the family at the camp.  It is so nice to all be together and relax and enjoy each other's company for a few days.  We had a total of 19 people but the best part of the cabin is that it never felt crowded.  Friday afternoon was spent hanging out and having a good dinner before sitting around the fire.    Saturday was packed full with the guy's hunting Poor Matt really hoped to join but wasn't quite up to it.  Hopefully next week. Happy Birthday to the best Mom, Mother-in-law and YAYA your family could ask for.  We are so thankful you and you won't ever know how much we appreciate all you do.  Me, Matt and the girls were thankful that we got to spend this evening with you.  Matt cooked the most delicious bacon wrapped teal, I brought the sides and the girls were sure to make sure I didn't forget the cake. I was a wonderful evening and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!  But one of the best presents Yaya got today, was the fact that Matt felt up to doing this He brought his pistol and said it was "exhilarating" to be in the blind again.   Best present I could ask for too. :)
