The Miracle of Metamorphosis

We have enjoyed Lilli's latest project around here and have really gotten in to it as a family. A few days after we got back from Great Wolf lodge, she got her caterpillars 🐛 in the mail that was part of her Christmas present. Santa brought the set but I waited to send off for the caterpillars because we were going out of town so much during the first of the year.    Almost every evening for 3 weeks we all 4 went to Lilli's room watched as they grew and formed into a chrysalis. It was one of the coolest things any of us have ever seen. We moved them in to their habitat and waited for them to emerge for a week.  Then last Friday, as I was checking on Rebel before leaving for the camp, I noticed one was out and we had a butterfly! Me, Josey and Katie got to see one of the others emerge.    We had to bring them to the camp because they would need nectar everyday and Lilli got to watch the 3rd one emerge on the ride. Everyone thought they were so cool.   Unfortunately only one mad

11 under 7

What a crazy fun day we had in Arkansas yesterday. We had our whole family plus Danny and Susan's whole group and had 11 kids ranging in age from 6 weeks to 7.    Capn boiled delicious crawfish and we spent the whole afternoon together.        So fun! I really hope we can get together with them more often. Everyone else left today but me, matt and the girls stayed since Lilli is off school tomorrow for Presidents Day. After a lazy afternoon of naps, we went over to Low Water to do a little fishing.        They weren't having much luck with the fish so they decided to go for a swim. It may be February 19th but it was in the 80s today!    The water was cold but that didn't phase them. A fun afternoon. I sure do love our little family. ❤️

Daddy Daughter Dance

Be still my heart! I think last night may have been the sweetest thing I have ever witnessed. Watching Matt with Lilli was one of those moments that made me fall in love with him all over again.    It was Apollo's Daddy Daughter Dance and she was the happiest little girl that he agreed to go. When she first heard about it she didn't think he would want to. And I don't know if he really WANTED to, but he went to make her happy. When he got home he said he really had fun and was so glad he went. He did it right too!! From asking her to the dance last week, to putting on his suit and then ringing the door bell to "pick her up" and showing up with flowers. He opened the car door and she said each time he opened a door for her all night he said, "M'lady." As she told me all the things he did as I tucked her in last night, I told her to never accept anything less from any boy. He's such a good Daddy!  And Matt said she may have not been the happiest gi

I'm Not Sure Where She Gets It

I know I am biased but Lilli never ceases to amaze me. I got a call from her music teacher several weeks ago to let me know she had recommended Lilli for the role of the youngest daughter in the Shreveport Opera's production of Fiddler on the Roof. She said there were other kids in the school who had talent, but none she would put her name with. Of course that made us proud in itself! She auditioned, but did not get the role. The director ended up with going with an older child who had been in a production before. She wasn't upset, and to be honest I wasn't either. It would've been a big commitment as far as rehearsals.  And not getting the first role she ever auditioned for is probably a good character builder. But, I got another call from that same teacher last night to tell me Lilli has a "sparkle" to her and that she and the art teacher have both nominated her for the talented program through Bossier Parish schools. She will undergo a couple of evaluations

Happy Birthday Lane

This baby boy is ONE today!!  And we had a great time celebrating at his party. It was precious and we are so thankful that we got to be there on his special day.          Hailey was busy last night getting ready but Rachel and I took the kids to Vivian to spend the night with Yaya and have more time together. The kids always love it and so do the adults.      We're so thankful for our family.
