Happy Birthday Lillian!

I am two days late with my post, but that doesn’t make it filled with any less love! Happy Birthday to our 14 year old! She woke up to her birthday table. I had also made her favorite, chocolate sheet cake, and name cookies for a special treat. Of course I had to include Katie too!  She got to skip school and spent a lot of the day with Yaya. We met for lunch at San Miguel and they went shopping while I went back to home to work She got very spoiled by her Yaya with some new clothes and a few decorative things for our redecorated bonus room. Koy came by after school to give her gifts and watch the newest episode of her favorite show, Percy Jackson with her.  Once Matt got home, we picked up Brynn and went to eat at Texas Roadhouse It was a great day celebrating our birthday girl! We hope it was the best one ever!

Cousin Weekend- Lilli’s Last Hunt of the Season

Image
Several weeks ago, Matt called Ryan and invited him to come up with the girls to go duck hunting. No one knew we would be dealing with the frozen temperatures we ended up having last week, but they still came, and we still had a great time. Everything was too frozen to get up and go first thing, so we slept in on Saturday morning and had some breakfast. Once everyone was full, the girls bundled up for their 25° four wheeler riding, and Matt and Ryan went to scout ducks.🦆  They all rode around for a couple of hours, but me and the dogs were the only sane ones who stayed in the house. I stayed in my pjs all day! They came in to warm up and dry off for a hour or so before the hunt, and left again about 1 o’clock. It was Lilli’s last one of the season because she will be at a church retreat this coming weekend. Piper had her first “assist” and they had fun being in the blind together. They were out for four or five hours, but me and Anna stayed at the house, watching TV, napping, and enjo

Winter Storm 2024

There are only a few weekends lefts of hunting season and last weekend Katie and I decided to go up to the camp with Matt and Lil for a night of it. Shanon and Jeremiah were in town and we wanted to visit with them and spend time with the rest of the family up there too. We only stayed one night to get back for gymnastics and work, but for everyone else, there was a lot of hunting and memories made.  Lillian had to miss Koy’s first tournament of the season, but there was no way she was missing hunting with her dad for that! We got back on Sunday and he came over to tell us about it.  The weatherman had been forecasting snow for a week, but that forecast changed to mostly ice by the time it rolled around. The kids were already out for MLK day, and we were pretty sure Tuesday would be out too since we wouldn’t get above freezing, but they ended up being out through Thursday. Some people didn’t mind driving on the ice, but I was not one of them! I stayed home so some of the girls friends

Baton Rouge Trip

Image
We made a quick trip to Baton Rouge for a weekend getaway and Lilli brought some friends. We got there Friday and met up with Michaelyn and Janet at an escape room. Me, Lilli, Katie, Brynn and Michaelyn had done them before but Janet, Koy and Justin were newbies. The kids wanted to do the “spooky” one and it happened to be the hardest one they had too. We did NOT escape, but it was super fun and we all want to go again. From there, we checked into our hotel (I was with the girls and the boys had their own room) and then stopped by to see Nana. I picked the hotel next-door to her place to make it easy to visit. We met the rest of the family at George’s for dinner We always like going there because the food is good, you order at the counter, which makes paying with a crowd easy, and there’s an arcade for the kids to play around, when we want to talk for an hour and a half.  From there, we went to the LSU gymnastics meet. It was just me with the 7 kids, and we had a great time! They defin

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s 2024. I swear last year went by in a blink and I’m sure it gets worse the older I get. We had a pretty low key weekend. We went to the deer camp to hang out hunt. Friday night, Matt and Kathleen got a deer and Cozy got her first taste of deer blood! We were so excited for him and it was cool to get to watch the girls use their new knives they got from Capn for Christmas. Cozy loved her first visit to the camp too. We might make her a deer dog yet!  Saturday morning Capn and Josh left and Cara and Josie came up. We hadn’t gotten to hang out in awhile so it was nice to just chill and catch up.  We all tried out the hoverboard 🤣 We came home yesterday and had 10 kids in the house last night so they could celebrate the new year together. It was Lilli’s first time to have friends for this holiday and they had fun. We watched Matt pop fireworks at midnight and they went home pretty soon after. Katie was over it early and got in bed about 9 and was asleep
