Kathleen Jane Had a Birthday

Image
Happy birthday to our sweet, smart, generous, loving, athletic, funny, fun loving Kathleen! I’m late on this post because our weekend spent celebrating it was too full to get it together.  It’s so fun to look at her birthdays through the years. She’s growing into such a beautiful young lady from that beautiful girl.  Friday was the actual day and we celebrated by skipping school and going to brunch as a family. For the afternoon, she built Legos while we watched Gilmore Girls together, and I was working on food and the cake for the party for the next day.  Sadie’s parents were going out of town for the weekend, but she chose to stay with us instead of going with them so that she could be with Kathleen. They really have become the best friends. So at 3 o’clock, we left to pick her up from the bus stop since they were already gone. The waterslide was already delivered so they went straight to it. Koy‘s sister and one of Lillian‘s best friends, Brynn‘s birthday was Friday too, and Kathlee

Our State Champion

Ms. Kathleen had a big meet a couple of weeks ago when she competed in the Louisiana State gymnastics meet and became beam STATE CHAMPION in her division. She was top 3 in all 4 events and 2nd overall.  We are always proud of her but it’s very fun to watch her do so well at something she loves so much. She’s going to add in pep squad next year too so we may have a cheerleader on our hands eventually.  We were there from about 10:30 to 3 o’clock that Saturday, and then Lillian and I went straight to Koy‘s baseball tournament to watch two games. We didn’t get home until after 1030 that night. It was a long day, but fun to watch everyone compete. And Lillian may not be competing, but she sure is loving Vivette’s. She was on the waiting list for eight months and now goes twice a week. She says she’s so excited to have “her thing.” Now to convince her Daddy we need a horse 🤔

For Christmas last year, Pops and Honey gave his 3 daughters and 4 granddaughters a weekend at a “dude ranch” for a gift. We picked the weekend because it was Anna and Piper’s spring break and it’s harder for Anna to miss school as a Junior than the other 3. The weather couldn’t have been anymore perfect and the timing worked out perfectly for us to celebrate Allie’s 40th birthday on the 4th too. They came in Thursday and Matt grilled steaks for her actual bday. I didn’t get one picture that night but it was a nice evening. The next morning, we got up and drove to El Dorado to the ranch. It was the “rancher’s experience” and we got in 3 rides, plus the kids got to help care for all the animals Dad has his own cabin and all 7 girls were in a bunk room together. After we were settled, we went to catch the horses in a field to take them to the stable to be saddled  The wranglers were very patient considering there were 8 of us and none knew how to help very much. But there was lots of tim

New Adventures, Gymnastics and Easter

Man, it’s only been about 2 weeks since my last post, but we have been busy! When we got back from Baton Rouge over spring break, I made the decision to leave the real estate team I’ve been on for almost 2 years to go back to being a solo agent. Pam took it well, and I’m still finishing up files I have with her, but I’m officially back on my own! It’s scary to go back to commission only, but I know I’m up for the challenge. I did it for 5 years before, and know I can again. I’ve been working on setting up my new website and back office systems and there is definitely a learning curve! But I’m ready to have my name on the sign and not answer to anyone but my clients again.  Koy’s Mom does pics as a side business and I got her to meet me one evening to update my headshots.  We tried to get all of our kids to dress up and take some spring pics, but all but Koy and Lillian complained, so we only took them of them.  They turned out so cute! And it is good marketing for her trying to get pho

Spring Break in Baton Rouge

We had a fun filled few days in Baton Rouge for spring break. We saw the family plenty, but did some touristy things too to make it more of a vacation. Koy came with us and me, him and Katie all stayed at Jimmy and Theresa’s and Lil stayed with Pops and Honey.  We left that morning and got there in time for the 4:00 LSU baseball game. Jimmy had gotten us amazing seats behind home plate and it was so fun. The game was honestly a little slow, but I would have stayed until the end and will never complain about a 7-0 win! But we left after the 6th inning because Anna, Katie and Anson were bored 😉 We didn’t miss much afterwards and met Jimmy and Theresa for dinner at George’s and the kids got to play in the arcade.  Plus, as we were walking out Koy got a foul ball so it was great timing! The next morning we were up bright and early to work at the food pantry. Pops was so excited to have his family there helping and the girls finished up their service hours for National Honor Society.  The
