It's a girl!!!

Matt, Lilli, and I secretly went to Stork Vision in Shreveport last Friday to find out if she was going to have a brother or a sister.  We didn't tell anyone about our appointment because we wanted to surprise them with the news. I ordered these from Etsy.com

Our original plan was to mail these to my family in Baton Rouge and Texas and have them open them on Thanksgiving Day.  Then we were going to get all of the McCormicks in the same room and have them scratch them off at the same time that day too.  Well, it didn't quite work out that way.  I was too excited plus I knew there was no way we could see Hailey and Yaya this week plus be at the deer camp for a whole 24 hours before we told without Lilli spilling the beans.  So... it took all of 5 minutes for me to change my mind and have Matt call his Mom and I sent a text to Rachel, Hailey and some friends.  I still mailed them to my family in Baton Rouge and they got them yesterday just in time for Pops' birthday.  We're so excited that we don't have to call her "it" anymore and now we even have her name.  We can't wait for Kathleen (Katie) Jane (after both of our Moms) to get here!

Summertime!

Yesterday was Bossier’s last day of school, but we’ve been in summer mode since they got done LEAP testing a couple of weeks ago. It’s honestly so dumb that they had 10 days of school after testing because they did NOTHING. There was a whole lot of movie watching and playing on computers. On top of the fact that grades were due over a week ago, so it’s not like there was much they could have done. We stayed out on school nights, had pool days and skipped half days to hang with Pops, or friends or just to bake.  Katie had her awards and field day last Wednesday. She ended the year with Straight A’s and a member of National Honor Society. Busy Weekends

It’s been a busy 10 days around here. On the 25th, the girls and I went down to Baton Rouge for a quick trip for Piper’s birthday. We got there late Friday, had a family lunch Saturday, and then took the kids to a water park Saturday afternoon. We were gone by 7AM Sunday to have some time at home for the weekend, and because GranJan was coming to visit for a night. She was going to Hot Springs with friends and stopped on the way because she had never seen the house. I wish I would have gotten some pics, but we had a nice visit and went out to eat that night.  The girls woke up Monday not feeling great (had complained of throats the day before too) so we went to the doctor and they ended up having Covid. I thought it was strep and was shocked because they didn’t even have high fevers, but I guess it’s going around a lot. They we’re technically out of quarantine after Thursday, but they ended up staying out all week. It was back to homeschooling for me so they weren’t behind. And by Frid

Back to School

We have officially made it through the first full week of school and it’s going well so far. The first day was Thursday, August 10th, and it was nice there were only 2 days to start to ease us into it. I did really well as we were getting ready that morning, and thought I would be ok, but I starting bawling before I was even out of the parking lot and couldn’t stop for over an hour. I laughed at myself because I knew in my head I was being ridiculous, but the tears didn’t get the message for awhile. It was the first time since Covid lockdown that they were both in school, and my heart hurt at the thought of them being gone so much. I teared up on and off the rest of the day, but it definitely made it better when they got home and had had a good day.
