Pancakes With Santa!

Lilli, Katie and I braved the cold this morning for a trip to the Jubliee Zoo for pancakes with Santa.  Despite it never getting over 30 degrees, it was a great morning. We had reindeer pancakes while waiting on Santa 

Then Santa showed up and each kid had a chance to take a picture and visit with him.  It was nice because there were only about 10 kids so they got to spend as much time as they wanted talking to him. 

After that everyone was ready to warm up so we headed inside where they each got to choose their own "friend" to stuff.  Cassie, Dillon, Lily and Luke met us there too. Lilli and Lily both chose reindeer for Christmas. 


We also got to do the things we do on a normal trip to the zoo like giving baby deer bottles, feeding the goats and sheep and taking a hay ride to see the big animals. They have horses, cows, a camel and a zebra.  Of course my phone died at the start of it so I didn't get any pictures of Katie laughing during this.  She had never seen big animals that close before. They come right up to you begging for food. 




It was a great morning and the perfect thing to start the Christmas season.

Summertime!

Yesterday was Bossier’s last day of school, but we’ve been in summer mode since they got done LEAP testing a couple of weeks ago. It’s honestly so dumb that they had 10 days of school after testing because they did NOTHING. There was a whole lot of movie watching and playing on computers. On top of the fact that grades were due over a week ago, so it’s not like there was much they could have done. We stayed out on school nights, had pool days and skipped half days to hang with Pops, or friends or just to bake.  Katie had her awards and field day last Wednesday. She ended the year with Straight A’s and a member of National Honor Society. It was so fun to watch her compete in field day events and get to meet some more of her school friends too I checked Katie, Madison and Britney out of school when it was over, and they spent the afternoon in the pool and then we all (with Koy and Lil) went to Josie’s Tball game that night. Busy Weekends

It’s been a busy 10 days around here. On the 25th, the girls and I went down to Baton Rouge for a quick trip for Piper’s birthday. We got there late Friday, had a family lunch Saturday, and then took the kids to a water park Saturday afternoon. We were gone by 7AM Sunday to have some time at home for the weekend, and because GranJan was coming to visit for a night. She was going to Hot Springs with friends and stopped on the way because she had never seen the house. I wish I would have gotten some pics, but we had a nice visit and went out to eat that night.  The girls woke up Monday not feeling great (had complained of throats the day before too) so we went to the doctor and they ended up having Covid. I thought it was strep and was shocked because they didn’t even have high fevers, but I guess it’s going around a lot. They we’re technically out of quarantine after Thursday, but they ended up staying out all week. It was back to homeschooling for me so they weren’t behind. And by Frid

Back to School

We have officially made it through the first full week of school and it’s going well so far. The first day was Thursday, August 10th, and it was nice there were only 2 days to start to ease us into it. I did really well as we were getting ready that morning, and thought I would be ok, but I starting bawling before I was even out of the parking lot and couldn’t stop for over an hour. I laughed at myself because I knew in my head I was being ridiculous, but the tears didn’t get the message for awhile. It was the first time since Covid lockdown that they were both in school, and my heart hurt at the thought of them being gone so much. I teared up on and off the rest of the day, but it definitely made it better when they got home and had had a good day.
