Troop 96

We had our first events with the Girl Scouts this weekend and we are loving it. The plan for Friday night was a backyard campout at the troop leader’s house but the rain turned it in to a troop sleep over in the bonus room upstairs. There were 21 girls and all I have to say is this woman must be a saint for allowing this at her house. The girls had the best time and the rain did let up enough for them to do a few things outside, a little playing and smores. But the sleeping was inside and I can’t even imagine the giggles in that room.

Matt was at the camp so I had the house all to myself and I “may” have had a bubble bath followed by sushi and a chick flick. The night was perfect but it all went a little crazy at 6:45 this morning when I accidentally locked myself out of the house as I was taking the trash out. I was supposed to pick the girls up at 7:00 so I had to knock on my neighbor’s door (I had no phone, I didn’t even have shoes;) and get him to drive me over there to get them and then break into the house for me. I tried Matt and told him I hoped he was having a bad hunt because I needed him to come home with the key, but he didn’t have one either. I guess we’re gonna have to get some made! But thank God for Leonard today. He was able to get in quick enough for us to still make the community service hours handing out water at a 5K downtown.

We were done by 9:00 and luckily that was before the bad storm hits. Katie’s 1st soccer game also got canceled so we went straight home and I had her napping by 10:30. Going to sleep at 11:00 and up at 6:00 made for a very grumpy five-year-old.

But she can’t stop talking about how much fun she had (it was her first time to spend the night with anyone other than family) and they are both already looking forward to the spring one that will be an actual campground.
